What INE, Eustat, the Port of Bilbao, Basque Trade & Investment and the Embassy of India in Madrid publish.
The Basque Country's GDP per head was €42,492 in 2025, second among Spain's 19 regions and well above the national €34,237; its economy was €95,508 million (INE advance estimate).[1]
Eustat counted 2,218,210 Basque residents on 1 January 2025 and reported GDP growth of 2.2% and unemployment of 6.9% in the second quarter of 2026.[2]
The Port of Bilbao operates a perishables terminal, rail connections and inland dry ports, and a regular ferry to Portsmouth and Rosslare.[3]
Basque Trade & Investment, the region's internationalisation agency, has 22 offices abroad serving more than 90 countries, and says Europe remains the main destination for Basque exports.[4]
India–Spain goods trade reached US$ 9.41 billion in 2025. India sells Spain mineral fuels, chemicals, iron and steel, textiles, machinery, seafood and leather, and buys mechanical appliances, chemicals and plastics.[5]
In July 2026 India's commerce minister set out a '10 by 10 by 10' vision in Spain: a tenfold rise in bilateral trade, tourism and investment over the next decade.[5]
