Rabkavi-Banhatti stands on the bank of the Krishna in Bagalkot district, west of Jamkhandi, and takes in Rabkavi, Banhatti, Hosur and Rampur; the Rabkavi and Banhatti municipalities merged in 1952.[5]
It was declared a taluka on 15 March 2017, working from 1 January 2018, under the Jamkhandi subdivision.[5]
The town is known for power-loom and hand-loom sarees, with folding, dyeing and yarn rolling as related work and a co-operative spinning mill from 1983–84.[5]
The Sri Kadasiddheshwar temple is the town's main temple; Banhatti's jatre is held each year in September or October, and the twin towns hold fairs in Shravana and Bhadrapada.[5]
Bagalkot district was formed in 1997 from Vijayapur district, has 638 villages and lists Kannada as its language.[1]
