WhatsApp Business API for Patiala's phulkari bazaars, colleges and academies

Patiala grew around the fort Baba Ala Singh founded in 1763, and the walled city's bazaars still sell phulkari and embroidered juttis. Today the first look at a dupatta is usually a photo on WhatsApp.

Patiala in seven lines

From the Patiala district administration's pages and Invest India's ODOP list.

Patiala district covers 3,222 sq km of south-eastern Punjab in 6 sub-divisions, 6 tehsils and 10 blocks, and lists a population of 18,96,210.[1]

Baba Ala Singh laid the foundation of Qila Mubarak in 1763, and the present city grew up around the fort.[2]

Maharaja Narendra Singh (1845–1862) fortified the city with ramparts and ten gates; many of its notable buildings date from Bhupinder Singh's reign (1900–1930).[2]

The walled city's mandis and bazaars are known for traditional goods, among them embroidered juttis and phulkari.[2]

Invest India's One District One Product list names phulkari embroidery fabric as Patiala's product.[4]

The Patiala Gharana of Hindustani music grew under the rulers' patronage, and the North Zone Culture Centre at Patiala continues to support it.[3]

Mohindra College, founded in 1870, was the region's first degree college; the district also pictures Punjabi University and the National Institute of Sports among its landmarks.[3],[1]

A wedding order from the walled city

A customer in Chandigarh asks a phulkari shop in Patiala's old bazaar for a red dupatta and a pair of juttis. Play the conversation bubble by bubble.

The order is ordinary shop talk until the last bubble. A customer's question opens a 24-hour window in which photos, buttons and confirmations are free-form replies, each charged at the service rate. The shipping notice goes days later, so it needs an approved template.

Writing that template once, in Punjabi and English, covers every order after it. The 24-hour service window explains the rule in full.

Questions Patiala businesses ask

Our phulkari shop in the walled city wants to send photos of new hand-embroidered dupattas to past wedding customers. Is that allowed?+
Yes, to past customers who agreed to receive offers. A new-collection message is a marketing template at ₹0.94 per delivered message, approved in Punjabi or English. Customers who reply to ask about a piece open a 24-hour window, and your photos and answers then cost ₹0.145 each.
Customers order a phulkari and embroidered juttis together from our Patiala bazaar shop. Can one confirmation cover both?+
Yes. If you confirm while the customer is still writing, it is a normal reply at ₹0.145. If you confirm later, a utility template can list both items, the amount paid and the dispatch date, at ₹0.19 per delivered message.
Students write to our coaching centre near Punjabi University in Punjabi and in English. Do we need two versions of every template?+
Of the templates you send, yes: Meta approves each language version separately, so keep Punjabi (pa) and English (en_IN) versions of your fee and class templates and choose by the student's preference. Replies within 24 hours of a student's message need no template.
Our academy near the National Institute of Sports sends batch timings to parents. Is that a utility message?+
Yes, when it is about a batch the child is enrolled in and the parent agreed to receive updates. Batch timings, fee reminders and camp confirmations are utility templates at ₹0.19. A notice advertising a new camp to everyone on your list is marketing and needs an opt-in.
Families abroad order phulkari from our Patiala shop for weddings. What does a message to a Canadian number cost?+
Meta charges by the recipient's country code, so a message to a +1 Canadian number is billed at InfiQ's published rate for Canada, shown in rupees on the [pricing page](/pricing). Your plan and invoice stay in rupees with GST.
We teach Hindustani vocal music in the Patiala Gharana tradition. Can we announce a new batch and a recital to past students?+
Yes, to past students who agreed to hear from you. A new-batch announcement or a recital invitation is a marketing template at ₹0.94 per delivered message. A class reschedule for students already enrolled is utility at ₹0.19.
