WhatsApp Business API for Cooch Behar's sital pati, mekhla, shops and hotels

Cooch Behar, কোচবিহার, was a Koch kingdom and a princely state until 1949. Its planned town keeps a palace and, at its heart, the Madan Mohan temple; its shops sell sital pati and mekhla to customers who write in Bengali.

For Cooch Behar's sital pati and mekhla sellers, the shops of a planned royal town and the hotels that host visitors to its palace and Madan Mohan temple: what to set up before the first Bengali template goes out, how Rash Mela offers need consent, and what each message costs in rupees.

Before a Cooch Behar shop's first Bengali template

Tick through what a sital pati or mekhla seller decides before it sends anything it starts itself. The required items are the ones WhatsApp enforces.

Most of a Cooch Behar shop's WhatsApp is replies: a customer asks for a size, a colour or a border, and the photos go back with no template at all. The checklist is about the smaller set of messages the shop starts, and those have to be approved, in a language Meta supports, and, for offers, sent only with consent.

Cooch Behar in eight lines

From the Cooch Behar district administration, Invest India's ODOP list and Meta's documentation.

The district is Cooch Behar in English and KochBihar in Bengali, the land through which the Koch kings used to travel.[2]

Maharaja Viswa Singha established an independent Koch kingdom in 1510 or 1530, and Nara Narayan, who ruled from 1554 to 1587, issued his own coins.[3]

Cooch Behar was a princely state until its ruler signed the agreement of 28 August 1949; administration passed to India on 12 September 1949, and it became a district of West Bengal on 19 January 1950.[2]

Maharaja Nripendra Narayan, who ruled from 1863 to 1911, completed the new palace in 1887 and built the Madan Mohan temple, in the heart of the town, between 1885 and 1889.[3],[4]

The district describes Cooch Behar as a planned city, and features the palace with the Sagardighi tank and the Rash Mela on its home page.[2],[1]

The district covers 3,387 sq km with 12 blocks, six municipalities, 128 gram panchayats and 1,188 villages.[1]

Invest India's ODOP list names sital pati and its products, and mekhla dress materials, for Cooch Behar.[5]

Bengali and Bengali (India) are both Meta template languages; Meta bills each message by the recipient's country calling code.[7],[6]

Who in Cooch Behar answers on WhatsApp

Four businesses that follow from the district's two ODOP products, the palace and temple, and the Rash Mela.

Sital pati and its products head the district's ODOP entry, sold by size, pattern and border.[5]

  • Photos of sizes and borders in reply
  • Order-ready note in Bengali
  • Courier note for buyers in other cities

Mekhla weavers and dress-material shops

Mekhla dress materials are the district's second ODOP product, often ordered by colour and length.[5]

  • Colour and length answers
  • Order confirmation
  • New-weave note to customers who opted in

Hotels and guides near the palace

The palace, completed in 1887, and the Madan Mohan temple in the heart of the town draw visitors who ask before they come.[3],[4]

  • Room and route answers
  • Booking confirmation
  • Check-in note the day before

Rash Mela stall-holders and shops

The district features the Rash Mela on its home page, and a shop's festival stock is news its regular customers may want.[1]

  • Stock answers in reply
  • Festival offer to customers who opted in
  • Order kept aside for collection

Bengali for the town, Hindi and English for visitors

Each of these is a Meta template language. Rajbanshi and Kamtapuri are not, so a customer who writes in either gets replies in it and templates in Bengali.

Each language version of a template is approved by Meta on its own. InfiQ's own support works in English and Hindi.

Keep the order-ready and courier notes in Bengali, with an English or Hindi version, and track Meta's approval of each before the festival rush.

  2. Consent records and opt-out enforcement

Each customer's yes to Rash Mela offers is recorded with its date and source, and STOP is enforced even if last year's list is imported again.

  3. WhatsApp Coexistence

A sital pati shop already on the WhatsApp Business app keeps it on the counter phone, on the same number, while the API sends its templates.

Questions Cooch Behar businesses ask

  1. Q1

Customers ask our Cooch Behar shop for a sital pati in a certain size and border. Can we answer with photos without an approved template?

Yes. The customer wrote first, so for 24 hours after their last message the photos, the price and your questions are replies at ₹0.145 each, in Bengali or any language, with no template. A template is needed only for a message you start after that.

  2. Q2

Our Cooch Behar sital pati shop's customers read Bengali. Should our templates be in Bengali (bn) or Bengali (India) (bn_IN)?

Either works. Meta lists them as separate template languages, each approved on its own. Choose one, write every template in it, and add a Hindi or English version only for customers outside the state who prefer one.

  3. Q3

Some customers write to our Cooch Behar store in Rajbanshi or Kamtapuri. Can our templates be in those languages?

No. Neither is a Meta template language, so templates go in Bengali, Hindi or English. Replies are not templates, so staff can answer in Rajbanshi or Kamtapuri whenever a customer writes in it.

  4. Q4

We weave mekhla dress material, Cooch Behar's second ODOP product, for shops in other states. Can each shop get its dispatch note on WhatsApp?

Yes. A dispatch note for an order the shop placed is a utility template at ₹0.19, with the lengths, the courier and the tracking number as variables. A shop elsewhere in India on an Indian number costs the same India rate as one in Cooch Behar.

  5. Q5

Visitors to the Cooch Behar Palace and the Madan Mohan temple ask our hotel about rooms. Are our answers marketing messages?

No. The visitor asked, so room details, prices and directions are replies at ₹0.145 each. A booking confirmation or a check-in note the day before, sent after the window has closed, is a utility template at ₹0.19.

  6. Q6

Can our Cooch Behar shop tell last year's customers about new sital pati and mekhla stock before the Rash Mela?

Only customers who agreed to hear about offers. A festival offer is a marketing template at ₹0.94, sent to customers whose opt-in InfiQ has recorded with its date and source; anyone who replies STOP is excluded from then on.
