A city that honoured India's Green Revolution first
The World Food Prize, conceived by Norman Borlaug and established in 1986, is run from Des Moines, in the city's renovated former downtown library, and its laureates are honoured at the Iowa State Capitol. Its first laureate, in 1987, was M. S. Swaminathan; Verghese Kurien, who led India's dairy cooperatives, followed in 1989.
For an Indian agricultural university, a seed company or a delegation organiser, that history is a reason to be in Des Moines. A delegate who travels on an Indian +91 number stays an Indian contact: itineraries, session reminders and follow-ups are priced at the India rate, and an offer they opted in to can be delivered.
The Iowans they meet are different. A Des Moines agronomist, insurer or event host on a US +1 number can receive utility and authentication templates and your replies, but no marketing template; keep those contacts in a separate segment so a delegate offer never goes to them.
