Pumps and threshers are among the town's listed industries, sold into a district where most of the farmed land is irrigated.[6],[3]
Cumin, castor seed, psyllium and anise are among the district's major crops, and cumin and castor are on its ODOP list.[3],[4]
Sankalchand Patel University and M. N. College are in the town, so admission offices answer students and parents from across north Gujarat.[6]
The town has several hospitals, among them the one attached to Narsinhbhai Patel Medical College.[6]

Visnagar is a municipality and taluka headquarters in Mehsana district, said to have been founded in 953 by King Visaladev as an outpost around a large tank, the Deliya Talao.[6]
The municipality's site gives Akha Trij as the town's founding day and lists the sculptures of the Deliya lake and the Pindariya pilgrimage site among its places.[1]
Mehsana itself was established by Mesaji Chavda; the Gaekwads made it their administrative headquarters in 1902, and the district has 10 talukas and 614 villages.[2]
The district's economy page lists potato, cotton, tobacco, oilseeds, castor seed, cumin, psyllium and anise as its major crops, and records ONGC's exploratory drilling from 1961.[3]
The same page names the Dudhsagar milk cooperative dairy and the Unjha market yard; it was last updated in 2018.[3]
The ODOP list gives dairy and milk products as Mehsana's primary product, agri products as its secondary, cumin as its tertiary and castor among its others.[4]
IBEF puts Gujarat's milk production at 17.28 million tonnes in 2024, 7.49% of India's, and lists engineering and auto among the state's key industries.[5]
