Siddhpur in seven lines

Siddhpur is one of Patan district's nine talukas; the district was formed from the Patan, Siddhapur, Chanasma, Harij and Sami talukas of Mahesana district, with others.[1]
The district's history says Sidhpur is famous for the historical Rudra Mahalaya and for Bindu Sarovar as the Matru Tarpan Tirth, and that Patan was ruled by kings such as Bhimdev, Siddhraj Jaisinh and Kumarpal.[2]
The town was once called Sristhal, a pious place, and was renamed for Jayasimha Siddharaja; the Rudra Mahalaya, begun under the Chaulukya founder Mularaja and consecrated by Siddharaja, was later dismantled by an army of Alauddin Khalji and survives as protected ruins.[5]
Siddhpur stands on the Saraswati; tradition places the sage Kapila's ashram at Bindu Sarovar, and families come in the month of Kartik to perform matrushraddh, the rite for mothers.[5]
Dawoodi Bohra traders built the town's wooden havelis with stuccoed, pastel facades, and a Bohra merchant built the Mohamedally Tower.[5]
