Virudhunagar's municipality describes it in one line: famous for its wholesale trade in cereals, dhalls and oils. Most of that trade already runs on phone calls and WhatsApp; the question is which messages a wholesaler may start.
For the cereal, dhal and oil wholesalers of Virudhunagar, its oil mills, match units, godowns and shops: a week of a wholesaler's WhatsApp sorted by who starts each message, whether it needs a Tamil or English template, and what it costs in rupees, in the town where Kamaraj was born.
See it work
A dhal and oil wholesaler in Virudhunagar sends and receives the same six kinds of message every week. Focus a cell to see who starts each one, whether it needs a template, and what it costs.
Read down the second column and the week sorts itself. The retailer's questions and the same-day answers are replies; the next-morning dispatch note and the bill reminder are utility templates; only the weekly price list is marketing, and it goes only to retailers who agreed to it.
That last row matters as much as the others. A retailer who replies STOP should not get next week's price list, even if the number is still in the wholesaler's book. The 24-hour service window explains what a reply allows.

From the Commissionerate of Municipal Administration, the Virudhunagar district administration and Invest India's ODOP list; the town's name and older trade are general background from Wikipedia.
The town was formerly known as Virudhupatti; its town council renamed it Virudhunagar in 1923.[5]
It became a Third Grade municipality from a selection-grade town panchayat in 1915, was upgraded in 1956 and has been Selection Grade since 22 May 1998; it has 36 wards over 6.60 sq km, formed from Virudhunagar, Kottaipatty, Chinna Moopanpatty, Allampatty and Muthuramanpatty.[1]
The municipality calls the town famous for its wholesale trade in cereals, dhalls and oils, and notes its rail links to Madurai, Thoothukudi and Nagercoil.[1]
Virudhunagar became a trade centre under British rule, shipping goods through Thoothukudi and Devipattinam; it is known for its oil mills and match factories, with trade concentrated around Katchery Road, Pullalakottai Road and the main bazaar.[5]
K. Kamaraj was born in Virudhunagar on 15 July 1903 and was Chief Minister of Madras State from 13 April 1954 to 2 October 1963.[3]
Thyagi Sankaralinganar began a hunger strike in Virudhunagar on 27 July 1956, and the Tamil Nadu Government built a memorial to him in the town in 2015.[3]
The district has ten taluks and three revenue divisions, and calls itself the District of Crackers and Matches.[2]
Invest India's ODOP list names gauze cloth and Sivakasi crackers for Virudhunagar district.[4]
Four businesses that follow from the wholesale trade, the mills, the bazaar and the town's history.

Kamaraj's house in Virudhunagar is now a memorial, and the state built a memorial to Sankaralinganar in 2015.[5],[3]
Virudhunagar was trading long before it was a district headquarters. Under British rule it shipped goods through Thoothukudi and Devipattinam; today its municipality still sums the town up as a wholesale market for cereals, dhalls and oils. The working document of that trade is the rate: what a bag of toor dal, a tin of oil or a sack of rice costs this morning.
On WhatsApp, a rate is almost always an answer. A retailer in a nearby town asks, the wholesaler replies, and the whole exchange sits inside the 24-hour window the retailer opened. The messages that need thought are the ones the wholesaler starts: the dispatch note after the window has closed, the reminder for a bill, and above all the weekly price list sent to everyone in the book.
That list is marketing, and it belongs only to retailers who said yes to it. Keep the yes on record, honour every STOP, and the rest of a Virudhunagar wholesaler's WhatsApp is plain conversation.
Tamil, English (India) and Hindi are all Meta template languages; each is a separate template under the same name, approved before it is sent.
Replies need no template, so staff answer in whatever a retailer writes; InfiQ's own support works in English and Hindi.

Question: Retailers ask our Virudhunagar wholesale shop for the day's dhal and oil rates. Can we answer them on WhatsApp without templates?
Answer: Yes. A retailer's message opens a 24-hour window, and every answer inside it, the rate, a photo of the stock, the bill, is a reply at ₹0.145 with no template. Templates are needed only for messages you start after the window has closed.
Question: Our Virudhunagar oil mill sends a price list to retailers every Monday. Is that a marketing message?
Answer: Yes. A price list sent unasked is a marketing template at ₹0.94, and it may go only to retailers who agreed to receive it. Send it as one broadcast to that opted-in segment, approved in Tamil or English, and drop anyone who replies STOP.
Question: Our godown near Katchery Road in Virudhunagar loads bags for retailers in other towns. Can the lorry number go on WhatsApp the next morning?
Answer: Yes, for an order the retailer placed. A dispatch note the next morning is a utility template at ₹0.19, with the lorry number, the bags and the expected arrival as variables. If the retailer writes back, your answers for 24 hours are replies.
Question: Visitors come to see Kamaraj's house in Virudhunagar, now a memorial, and ask our cab service about fares from Madurai. Is answering them marketing?
Answer: No. They asked, so the fare, the route and the timing are replies at ₹0.145 each, in Tamil, English or Hindi as they wrote. A pickup reminder for a trip they booked is a utility template at ₹0.19.
Question: Our Virudhunagar match unit bills dealers in Busy. Can payment reminders go out by themselves?
Answer: Yes. InfiQ's native Busy integration sends invoices and automatic payment reminders on WhatsApp with no integration fee. Each reminder to a dealer's Indian number is a utility message at ₹0.19.
Question: Our Virudhunagar snack shop wants to send offers before the Parashakti Mariamman temple festival in April. Who can we send them to?
Answer: Only to customers who agreed to hear about offers. A festival offer is a marketing template at ₹0.94, approved in Tamil. Ask for the yes at the counter or in a chat, and InfiQ records when and where each one was given.
