Surabaya and the India–Indonesia trade

IBEF's trade figures, the city government and India's Ministry of External Affairs describe the corridor and the city at its eastern end.

India–Indonesia trade was US$24.783 billion in FY26: US$4.49 billion of Indian exports and US$20.3 billion of imports from Indonesia.[1]

India's leading exports to Indonesia were engineering goods (US$1.61 billion), chemicals (US$512 million), meat, dairy and poultry (US$336 million), pharmaceuticals (US$256 million), oilseeds (US$193 million) and spices (US$120 million).[1]

Coal, coke and briquettes (US$6.59 billion), vegetable oil (US$3.87 billion) and iron and steel (US$1.71 billion) led India's imports.[1]

The city government describes Surabaya as the capital of East Java and the province's centre of government and economy, and an important port since the Majapahit era.[2]

Its site gives the city's area as 333 km², divided into 31 kecamatan and 153 kelurahan, with 7,388 people per km² in 2024.[2]

India's Ministry of External Affairs counts 7,251 overseas Indians in Indonesia, 1,962 of them NRIs, as of January 2026.[3]

Indonesian on the template, any language in the reply

Meta approves each language version separately. For Surabaya, one version is rarely enough.
