WhatsApp Business API for Indian exporters with buyers in Jakarta

India sells engineering goods and food to Indonesia and buys its coal and palm oil. Much of that trade is negotiated with Jakarta, ninety minutes ahead of India all year.

How a Jakarta buyer relationship climbs

Each rung changes what you may send and how it is priced. Step through one distributor's path from a first question to repeat orders.

The ladder matters because each rung has a different price. Answers inside the window are service replies; order updates are utility templates; offers are marketing. A team that sends everything as marketing pays the top rate for messages that did not need it, and a team that sends offers without consent risks its quality rating with Meta.

Your ERP can send the transit updates through the developer API the moment a status changes, and the buyer's questions in between come back to the shared team inbox.

Marketing, with consent

Why: The buyer asked to see new lines before anyone else

New price lists and product lines go only to buyers who agreed to promotions, timed for Jakarta's morning.

An illustrative path, not data: the rungs follow Meta's rules for the 24-hour window, opt-in and template categories.

    Engineering goods exporters

On WhatsApp: Proforma and order acknowledgement · Dispatch and vessel updates · Spare-part enquiries answered by an agent

  2. 02

    Meat, dairy and poultry exporters

Meat, dairy and poultry products follow engineering goods on the export list. Pharmaceuticals are on it too, but Meta's policy bars drug sales on WhatsApp.[1]

On WhatsApp: Certificate of analysis as a PDF · Batch and expiry details · Reorder reminders

  3. 03

Importers of coal and vegetable oil

Indian buyers of Indonesia's two biggest exports to India message their Jakarta suppliers about loading, quality and payment.[1]

Questions Jakarta businesses ask

A Jakarta distributor wants order updates in Bahasa Indonesia. Can our templates be written in Indonesian?+
Yes. Indonesian (id) is on Meta's list of template languages. Submit the Indonesian version alongside any English one; each is reviewed separately. Inside the 24-hour window your agents can reply in Indonesian or English, whichever the buyer uses.
Our containers discharge at Tanjung Priok. Can arrival and clearance updates go out automatically?+
Yes. Your system calls InfiQ's API when the status changes and InfiQ sends the matching approved utility template, ₹2.20 per delivered message to an Indonesian number. The buyer must have opted in to receive WhatsApp updates from you.
Jakarta is ninety minutes ahead of India. When should a message leave us to land at 09:00 WIB?+
At 07:30 IST, every day of the year, because neither country uses daylight saving. That is before most Indian offices open, so schedule the send in Jakarta time rather than waiting for someone to press the button.
We buy coal and palm oil from suppliers in Jakarta. Are messages to a supplier priced like messages to a customer?+
Yes. Meta prices by the recipient's country code and the message category, not by who is buying. If the supplier writes first, your answers inside the window are service replies at ₹2.20; templates you send later are priced at Indonesia's rates for their category.
Does Indonesia's data protection law change what we can send to buyers in Jakarta?+
It asks for a lawful basis, such as consent, before you use someone's personal data for marketing, which fits Meta's own opt-in rule. Keep each buyer's opt-in on record; the [Indonesia guide](/whatsapp-business-api/countries/indonesia) explains what the law requires.
Our trading arm in Jakarta signs the coal and palm-oil contracts. Should it hold the InfiQ account instead of us?+
InfiQ serves India-based businesses: it bills in rupees with GST and keeps customer data in India, so the Indian company is the natural account holder and can message Jakarta numbers at the Indonesia rate. If your business is based in Jakarta, talk to sales about whether InfiQ fits.
