Sindhanur is a city and taluk headquarters in Raichur district; the Tungabhadra irrigates its fields through a left bank canal, the soil is mostly black, and paddy is grown twice a year.[5]
It is nicknamed the paddy granary of Raichur; Sona Masuri and Basmati rice are grown there, and rice milling and agricultural machinery dealerships make up much of its economy.[5]
The town has a station on the Mahabubnagar–Munirabad railway line and a City Municipal Council of 31 wards; the Ambamma jathre is held every January at Amba Matha.[5]
