Mancherial in eight lines

Mancherial district was carved out of the erstwhile Adilabad district; it has 18 mandals in two revenue divisions, Mancherial and Bellampalli, with its headquarters in Mancherial town.[1]
It borders Komuram Bheem Asifabad, Adilabad, Nirmal, Jagtial, Peddapalli and Bhoopalapally districts and the state of Maharashtra; the Godavari and the Pranahita pass through it.[1]
Paddy is the major crop, and the district lists Telugu, Hindi and English as its languages.[1]
The district has a coal belt, with Singareni Collieries and the Jaipur Thermal Power Plant, and several private cement manufacturers and ceramics factories.[2]
Mancherial is an A-category station of the Secunderabad division and Bellampalli another main station; SH1, NH63 and the Nagpur highway run through the district, and Mancherial has its RTC bus depot.[2]
Hyderabad is about 245 km away by road, and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport 271 km.[4]
There is a crocodile sanctuary near Chennur and forest that is part of the Kawal Tiger Reserve; the Gudem Gutta Satyanarayana Swami temple is a pilgrim centre, and Gandhari Khilla is a hill fort near Bokkalagutta in Mandamarri mandal.[2],[3]
Invest India's ODOP list names mango for Mancherial; IBEF says fruits make up nearly half of Telangana's horticulture output and thermal power its largest share of installed capacity.[5],[6]
