WhatsApp Business API for Dhoraji's oil mills, plastics units and traders

Dhoraji's economy moved from sugar and tiles to cotton, groundnut and edible oil, and the town is now growing into a plastics hub. An oil mill and a plastics unit send the same four kinds of WhatsApp message; they send them to different people.

Trade 1

Edible oil and groundnut

Groundnut is grown around the town and edible oil is made in it, sold to grocers and distributors by the tin.

Trade 2

Plastics

The newer trade: Dhoraji is developing into a plastics hub, selling moulded goods by the lot.

For Dhoraji's edible-oil mills and groundnut traders, its growing plastics units, the town's farsan shops and Rajkot district's engineering suppliers: which messages to grocers, traders and buyers are free-form replies, which need a Gujarati template, which need consent, and what each costs.

See it work

A Dhoraji oil mill and a plastics unit, message by message

Put an illustrative edible-oil mill and an illustrative plastics unit in Dhoraji side by side. Each row is one kind of WhatsApp message; the categories are the same, the readers and the words are not.

Most of either firm's WhatsApp day is the second row: a buyer asks, someone answers, and the 24-hour service window means no template is needed. Every reply is charged at the service rate.

The marketing row is the one that needs care. WhatsApp's policy allows a business to contact people only with their opt-in and requires it to honour every request to stop. The India guide covers consent under the DPDP Act.

Verdict

Both firms send replies, utility notes and the odd offer. What changes is who reads them and in which language, so each approves its own templates.

Illustrative firms. A reply inside the 24-hour window needs no template; a note about one buyer's own order is a utility template; a price list or a new range sent to many is marketing and needs each reader's opt-in.

Verdict: Both firms send replies, utility notes and the odd offer. What changes is who reads them and in which language, so each approves its own templates.

Dhoraji, from the municipality and the record

From the Dhoraji municipality's site, Invest India's ODOP list and IBEF's Gujarat profile, with the town's history, economy and roads from Wikipedia.

The municipality's site presents Dhoraji as a town on the Safura and Bhadar riverbanks, known by its Three Gates, with nine wards and the PIN 360410.[1]

Kumbhaji II of Gondal State acquired Dhoraji from Junagadh State around the middle of the 18th century; its fort, with Kathiawadi, Porbandar, Halar and Junagadh gates, was completed in 1755.[7]

After the railway came, the new town was laid out with axial planning, road circles, parks and markets.[7]

The town's economy was once centred on sugar and tile making; it now relies on cotton, groundnut, sugarcane and vegetables, with edible oil production, and is developing into a plastics hub.[7]

NH27 links Dhoraji with Upleta, Jetpur, Gondal, Rajkot and Porbandar, NH927D runs to Jamnagar via Kalavad, and the station is on the Wansjaliya–Jetalsar line.[7]

The ODOP list names engineering goods and machine products as Rajkot district's primary product and single ikat weaving as its secondary one.[2]

IBEF lists dairy, textiles and apparels, chemicals and petrochemicals among Gujarat's key industries.[3]

Gujarati for Saurashtra, Hindi for the rest

Gujarati, Hindi and English (India) are on Meta's list of template languages. An oil mill selling around Saurashtra may need only Gujarati; a plastics unit selling across India adds Hindi.

Inside the 24-hour window after a buyer writes, staff can reply in any language with no template. InfiQ's own support team works in English and Hindi.

Questions Dhoraji businesses ask

  1. Q1

Grocers ask our Dhoraji edible-oil mill the day's price per tin on WhatsApp. Do those replies need templates?

No. Each grocer's message opens a 24-hour window, and your answers inside it, the rate, the stock and a photo of the tin, are service messages at ₹0.145 each. Only a message your mill starts after the window has closed, like the next day's dispatch note, needs an approved template.

  2. Q2

Our plastics unit in Dhoraji sends lots by road on NH27 to traders in Rajkot. Can each trader get a loading note with the lorry number?

Yes, to traders who agreed to order updates. A loading note with the trader's own lot, quantity, lorry number and invoice is a utility template at ₹0.19. Approve it in Gujarati, and in Hindi for buyers in other states.

  3. Q3

Can a Dhoraji oil mill send its new-season price list to every grocer who has ever bought a tin?

Only to grocers who agreed to receive price lists; buying from you is not that agreement. A price list sent to many is a marketing template at ₹0.94. Ask each grocer, note the date of the yes, and honour any request to stop, as WhatsApp's policy requires.

  4. Q4

A farsan shop near Dhoraji's Three Gates takes gathiya orders from families in other cities. Can order-ready and parcel notes go on WhatsApp?

Yes. A note that a family's own order is packed, with the courier's tracking number, is a utility template at ₹0.19, approved in Gujarati. A festival-box offer to past customers is marketing and goes only to those who agreed to offers.

  5. Q5

Our Dhoraji plastics unit takes orders on the WhatsApp Business app. Can we keep the app on the same number and still send templates?

Yes. With WhatsApp Coexistence, the Business app stays on the number while the API sends templates and the shared inbox handles replies, within Meta's coexistence limits. The trial is a 7-day Lite trial, no card needed.

  6. Q6

A Dhoraji plastics unit sells to a buyer in Kenya. What does a dispatch note to a Kenyan number cost?

Meta charges by the recipient's country calling code, so a Kenyan number is billed at the rate for that market, which InfiQ publishes in rupees on the pricing page, not at the India rate. A dispatch note about the buyer's own order is a utility template there too.
