The Embassy of India in Cairo describes a relationship upgraded to a Strategic Partnership in June 2023.

India–Egypt trade was US$6.5 billion in FY 2025-26. India is Egypt's fifth-largest source of imports and its sixth-largest trading partner overall.[1]

India's main exports to Egypt are petroleum products, engineering goods, chemicals, cotton yarn, buffalo meat, and drugs and pharmaceuticals.[1]

More than 700 Indian companies are registered in Egypt, about 70 of them active, with combined investment above US$5.5 billion and around 40,000 Egyptians employed.[1]

About 18,000 Egyptian tourists visited India in 2024, and EgyptAir flies direct between Cairo and both Delhi and Mumbai.[1]

Egypt's data law prohibits direct marketing by electronic communication without the recipient's consent, and requires a licence or permit from the Personal Data Protection Centre for electronic marketing.[2]

A city that already knows India

Cairo has streets named after Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Dr Zakir Husain. The Baron Empain Palace in Heliopolis, built in 1905, is known as 'Le Palais Hindou' for its debt to the temples of Odisha, and the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture has screened Indian films in the city since 1992. An Indian business is not introducing itself to strangers here.

The clock is close, too. Egypt keeps Eastern European Time, UTC+2, and since 2023 has used summer time from the last Friday in April to the last Thursday in October, so Cairo is two and a half hours behind IST in summer and three and a half in winter. A Cairo morning lands in the Indian late morning and early afternoon; most conversations fit inside your working day.
