Auraiya in eight lines

On 17 September 1997 the Auraiya and Bidhuna tehsils were separated from Etawah district to form Auraiya district.[1],[2]
The district lies on National Highway 2, the Mughal Road, 64 km east of Etawah and 105 km west of Kanpur.[2]
Its blocks are Ajitmal, Bhagyanagar, Sahar, Bidhuna, Achchalda, Erwakatra and Auraiya.[1]
NTPC Auraiya, a gas-based power station at Dibiyapur, takes its gas from GAIL's HBJ pipeline and its water from the Auraiya–Etawah canal; its first units were commissioned in 1989.[3]
GAIL's Uttar Pradesh Petrochemical Complex stands at Pata in the district.[3]
The district's history runs through Rohilla rule in the 1760s, Maratha raids across the Yamuna at Phaphund in 1766, and Oudh's government from 1774 to 1801.[2]
Its listed temples include the Devkali temple south of the headquarters, an old Shiva temple near the Yamuna with a yearly mela, the Kamdev temple in Auraiya and the Badi Devi temple on Phaphund Road.[4]
