Should premium reminders be Utility or Marketing templates?

Reminders for an existing policy the customer already holds are Utility — they relate to an active agreement. A renewal message that pitches an upgraded plan or add-on cover is Marketing and needs an opt-out. Submitting a pitch as Utility is the most common rejection reason in this category.

Can I send claim settlement amounts over WhatsApp?

Yes. Settlement confirmations with the approved amount, claim number and payout date are standard Utility notifications. Avoid promising amounts before approval — send stage updates instead, and confirm the figure only once it is sanctioned.

How do I handle IRDAI compliance in template copy?

Keep templates to service facts: dates, amounts, claim stages, document requirements. Avoid comparative claims, assured-return language or benefit projections in outbound messages. Most insurers also add their registered name and IRDAI registration number to the footer of marketing templates.

Can agents use these templates or only the insurer?
