What is Meta Business Suite?
Meta Business Suite is Meta's free workspace, on the web at business.facebook.com and as a mobile app, where a business manages its Facebook Page and Instagram professional account side by side. It brings together a unified inbox for Messenger, Instagram Direct and, where connected, WhatsApp Business app chats; a planner for posts and stories; simple ad creation, including ads that click to WhatsApp; and insights on reach and engagement.
Business Suite is a front end, not the owner of anything. The assets it shows belong to a business portfolio (formerly Business Manager), and the Suite's Settings area, also reachable as Business settings, is where that portfolio's people, partners, payment methods and WhatsApp assets are administered. Since Meta's new account model began rolling out on 23 September 2026, those settings show separate WhatsApp Accounts (phone numbers) and Messaging Accounts (templates and billing) tabs.
For businesses on the WhatsApp Business Platform, the inbox in Business Suite is not where API conversations are answered: those flow through webhooks to whatever platform or shared team inbox the business uses. API assets such as phone numbers, message templates, quality ratings and insights live in WhatsApp Manager, which opens from Business Suite. Business Suite remains useful for the Page, Instagram, ads and portfolio settings around the WhatsApp channel.
Key takeaways
- Meta Business Suite is the everyday workspace for a business's Page, Instagram and connected WhatsApp Business app: inbox, posts, ads and insights.
- It runs on top of your business portfolio; its Settings area is where people, partners and WhatsApp assets are administered.
- API assets such as templates and phone numbers are managed in WhatsApp Manager, opened from Business Suite, not in the Suite's inbox.
- Click-to-WhatsApp ads are created from Business Suite or Ads Manager by linking a WhatsApp number to the Page.
- Since the new account model rollout, Settings shows WhatsApp Accounts and Messaging Accounts tabs instead of a single WABA list.

Why it matters
Why does Meta Business Suite matter?
Most marketing teams already spend their day in Business Suite, so knowing where its edges are saves hours. It is the right place to schedule posts, answer Instagram DMs, launch a click-to-WhatsApp campaign and add a colleague or partner to the portfolio. It is the wrong place to look for an API customer's chat or a rejected template. Teams that understand the split stop filing support tickets about "missing" WhatsApp messages and know which screen each task belongs to.
Example: A Hyderabad bakery's marketing morning
The marketing lead of a Hyderabad bakery chain opens Business Suite at 9 am, schedules three Instagram reels for the week, answers a few Instagram DMs about eggless cakes and launches a click-to-WhatsApp ad for Diwali hampers. Hamper enquiries from the ad land on the bakery's API number and are answered by the order team in their shared team inbox, not in Business Suite. When the team needs a new order-confirmation template, the lead opens WhatsApp Manager from the Suite's menu to submit it.
How does Meta Business Suite work?
Sign in and pick the portfolio
Open business.facebook.com or the Business Suite app and choose the business portfolio from the switcher. Everything you see is scoped to that portfolio's Pages, accounts and permissions.
Connect channels to the inbox
Link the Instagram professional account and, for businesses on the WhatsApp Business app, the WhatsApp number to the Page. Messages then appear in the unified inbox with labels, saved replies and automated responses.
Plan posts and run ads
Use the planner to schedule Facebook and Instagram content, and create ads with a Send WhatsApp message button that open a chat with your linked number.
Administer the portfolio in Settings
Settings covers people and their access, partners, system users, business verification, payment methods and the WhatsApp Accounts and Messaging Accounts tabs.
Jump to WhatsApp Manager for API assets
For phone numbers, display names, templates, quality and messaging insights on the API, open WhatsApp Manager from Business Suite.
Common mistakes with Meta Business Suite
Looking for API chats in the Suite inbox
Messages to a Cloud API number go to your webhook and your messaging platform. Answer them there, and keep the Suite inbox for Messenger, Instagram and app-based WhatsApp.
Mixing up the Suite and the portfolio
Removing someone from a Page in the Suite does not remove their portfolio access. Manage people and partners in Settings, where access to every asset is listed.
Linking the wrong WhatsApp number to the Page
Click-to-WhatsApp ads open whichever number is linked. Confirm it is the number your sales team actually answers before a campaign goes live.
Editing settings from a personal portfolio
Staff who belong to several portfolios can make changes in the wrong one. Check the portfolio switcher before changing people, payment methods or WhatsApp accounts.
Best practices for Meta Business Suite
- Bookmark WhatsApp Manager separately if you work on templates daily.
- Use labels in the Suite inbox to hand Instagram leads over to the WhatsApp team.
- Give agencies access to Pages and ad accounts only, not to your WhatsApp assets, unless they run that channel.
Meta Business Suite FAQs
- Can I use Meta Business Suite for the WhatsApp Business API?
- Partly. You use it to administer the portfolio and to open WhatsApp Manager for numbers and templates, but API conversations are handled by your messaging platform through webhooks, not in the Suite's inbox.
- What is the difference between Meta Business Suite and Business Manager?
- Business Suite is the workspace for inbox, posts and ads; Business Manager, now called the business portfolio, is the ownership and permissions layer underneath. You administer the portfolio from the Suite's Settings.
- Is Meta Business Suite free?
- Yes. Using the Suite costs nothing; you pay only for ads you run, and WhatsApp Business Platform messages are billed separately by Meta per delivered message.
- Can I reply to WhatsApp Business app chats in Meta Business Suite?
- Where Meta supports it, yes: link your WhatsApp Business app number to your Page and chats appear in the unified inbox. Availability and features vary, so check the inbox settings for your account.
