What Delivery & Read Receipts means
Delivery and read receipts are status updates that track an outbound WhatsApp message through its lifecycle: sent (accepted by WhatsApp), delivered (arrived on the recipient's device) and read (opened by the recipient, when read receipts are enabled). A failed status indicates the message could not be delivered.
These statuses arrive as webhook events keyed to the message's ID (wamid), letting businesses power dashboards, trigger retries, or advance an automation only once a message is confirmed delivered or read.
