WhatsApp Business API for Udaipur, Tripura: pera shops, risha weavers and temple lodges

Udaipur was Tripura's capital for 1,170 years, until the court moved to Old Agartala in 1760. Today the town of lakes is the state's tourism capital, and a box of pera from Matabari is often ordered before the family leaves home.

For Udaipur in Tripura's Gomati district, not the Rajasthan city: how the pera shops at Matabari, risha weavers, lodges for Tripura Sundari's visitors and plantation traders run orders and bookings on the official WhatsApp Business API, which templates suit Bengali and English, and what each message costs.

Udaipur and Gomati in eight lines

From the Gomati district administration's pages, Invest India's ODOP list and IBEF's Tripura profile.

Udaipur is the headquarters of Gomati district, created in 2012 when South Tripura was divided. The district covers 1,522.8 sq km in three subdivisions, Udaipur, Amarpur and Karbook, with eight blocks and one municipality.[1],[2]

The district calls Udaipur the oldest capital of Tripura: 59 kings ruled from Rangamati or Udaipur over 1,170 years. Uday Manikya renamed Rangamati as Udaipur in 1567, and Maharaja Krishna Manikya moved the capital to Old Agartala in 1760.[2]

It is known as the city of lakes, among them Jagannath Dighi, Amarsagar, Dhanisagar and Mahadeb Dighi (Bijoy Sagar).[1],[2]

The Mata Tripura Sundari temple at Matabari, about 3 km from the town, is described by the district as one of the 51 Mahapithasthans of India. The state declared Udaipur the tourism capital of Tripura in 1996.[1],[2]

Agriculture is the main occupation and paddy the main food crop; tea, coffee, rubber, jackfruit, banana, mango and pineapple are the major plantation crops. Only 31.61% of the land is cultivable.[3]

Invest India's One District One Product list names two products for Gomati: risha, under handloom, and Matabari pera, under food processing.[5]

Udaipur has no direct air connection; trains run from Agartala twice a day except Sunday, and buses leave Agartala's Nagerjala bus stand through the day.[4]

Tripura borders Bangladesh on three sides and produced 1,13,351 tonnes of natural rubber in 2025-26.[6]

See it work

A box of Matabari pera, ordered before darshan

A family in Agartala writes to a pera shop near the Tripura Sundari temple on Friday evening. Step through the order to see which messages are replies and which one is a template.

Most of the conversation costs the service rate, because the family keeps writing. The one message that needs a template is the order-ready note, sent the next morning when the family may not have written for hours.

If the shop later wants to tell the family about pera for a festival, that is marketing and goes only with their opt-in. The 24-hour service window explains where replies end.

A reply again: the family wrote first

  • Request — solid arrow — a call that expects an answer
  • Response — dashed arrow — the answer coming back
  • Event — dotted arrow — something happened and is pushed out
  • Async — double head — fire-and-forget, nobody waits
The family's questions and the shop's answers are replies inside the 24-hour window, each charged at the service rate. The order-ready note is an approved utility template, so it reaches the family on Saturday even if they have not written since.

Bengali and English templates, replies in Kokborok too

The district lists Bengali, Kokborok and English as its languages. Meta approves templates in Bengali and English, not in Kokborok.

Kokborok is not a Meta template language, so a template a Kokborok-speaking customer receives is written in Bengali or English. Inside the 24 hours after the customer writes, your staff can reply in Kokborok or any other language, with no template needed. InfiQ's own support works in English and Hindi.
