Market brief
From the Namakkal district pages, the Commissionerate of Municipal Administration, Invest India's ODOP list and IBEF's Tamil Nadu profile; the hill, festival and trade lines are general background from Wikipedia.
Tiruchengode is one of Namakkal district's eight taluks, and the district's site carries the line 'Land of Poultry, Transport'.[1]
The municipality was constituted as third grade in 1965, rose to first grade in 1984 and Selection Grade in 1998, was declared a Heritage Town in 1994 and became Special Grade in 2025; it covers 25.20 sq km, about 45 km south-west of Salem.[3]
The municipal record notes a lorry stand opened in 1967, a new bus stand at Ammankulam in 2002 and a handloom weavers' co-operative society in 2004.[3]
The Arthanareeswarar temple, 35 km from Namakkal, is listed by the district as one of the seven Sivasthalams of Kongunadu; Invest India's ODOP list names poultry feed and products for Namakkal.[2],[4]
IBEF lists textiles, heavy commercial vehicles and agro and food processing among Tamil Nadu's key industries.[5]
