WhatsApp Business API for Tinsukia's Assam lemon traders, shops and travel trade

Tinsukia grew round a railway and still has two junctions, with the oil town of Digboi up the line and Assam lemon as the district's One District One Product. When a buyer writes from abroad, the country code on their number sets the rules.

For Tinsukia's Assam lemon traders, wholesalers, lodges and travel desks for Dibru-Saikhowa and Digboi, and the town's shops: what changes when a WhatsApp message goes to a buyer abroad instead of one in India, which templates suit Hindi, Bengali or English, and what each costs in rupees.

See it work

The same dispatch note to a buyer in India and one abroad

A Tinsukia firm sends the same dispatch note to two buyers. Compare them row by row: the template is the same, but the country code changes the rate, the hours and whether a marketing message arrives at all.

For most firms the difference is only the rate: a dispatch note or invoice reminder is a utility template wherever the buyer is. The real difference is marketing. Meta does not deliver marketing templates to US numbers, and buyers elsewhere abroad must have agreed to offers under their own rules as well as Meta's.

The India guide covers the left-hand column; the rates for the right-hand one are on the pricing page, in rupees.

Write one English dispatch template and use it for both; check the buyer's country before sending anything that promotes.

Meta charges by the recipient's country code. InfiQ publishes every market's rate in rupees and invoices in rupees with GST, whatever the buyer's country.

Verdict: Write one English dispatch template and use it for both; check the buyer's country before sending anything that promotes.

Assamese is not a language Meta approves templates in, so Tinsukia's templates go in Hindi, Bengali or English. Each language version is approved once.

Inside the 24-hour window, after a customer writes, staff can reply in Assamese or any other language with no template. InfiQ's own support team works in English and Hindi.

Questions Tinsukia businesses ask

Our Tinsukia firm sells Assam lemon, the district's ODOP product, to shops that order by phone. Is the dispatch note with the docket number a utility message?
Yes. A note about an order the buyer placed, with the courier and docket number and no offer in it, is a utility template at ₹0.19. If the buyer asked in the last 24 hours, it can simply go as a reply at ₹0.145. Record when each buyer agreed to WhatsApp updates.
A buyer in Britain has written to our firm in Tinsukia. What does a WhatsApp message to a +44 number cost, and what time should we send?
Meta charges by the recipient's country code, so a +44 number is billed at the United Kingdom rate, published in rupees on the pricing page. Britain is several hours behind IST, so a note sent in your afternoon arrives in their morning. An offer needs their opt-in; to US (+1) numbers marketing is not delivered at all.
Customers at our shop near New Tinsukia junction write in Assamese, Bengali and Hindi. Which of those can be template languages?
Bengali (bn) and Hindi (hi) are on Meta's template list; Assamese is not. Write order-ready and reminder templates in Bengali, Hindi or English, and answer customers in Assamese inside the 24-hour window, when no template is needed. Each reply in the window is a service message at ₹0.145.
Visitors to Dibru-Saikhowa National Park, 12 km north of Tinsukia, book rooms with our lodge on WhatsApp. Can we confirm bookings there?
Yes. Answers to a visitor who wrote first are replies at ₹0.145 for 24 hours. A booking confirmation with dates, the advance paid and the pickup time is a utility template at ₹0.19, sent to guests who agreed to updates. An invitation to come back next winter is marketing and needs a separate yes.
Our wholesale firm near Makum junction supplies shops across Tinsukia district and keeps accounts in Busy. Can payment reminders go out automatically?
Yes. InfiQ's Busy integration sends payment reminders on WhatsApp automatically, with no integration fee, to shops that agreed to updates. Each reminder is a utility message at ₹0.19; if a shop replies with a question, your staff can answer freely for 24 hours.
Our travel desk in Tinsukia plans trips on the Stilwell Road and to the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge. Is the Lite plan enough?
Usually, yes. Lite is ₹999 a month with the shared inbox for 10 users, plus each delivered message at the India rate. Growth, at ₹2,999 a month, adds the developer API and one Flows chatbot. Start with a 7-day Lite trial, no card needed; once Meta business verification is complete, a number is usually live in about two hours.
