Ranaghat sits on the Churni at a junction of railway lines and highways, and heads the subdivision that includes Shantipur. Before Durga Puja, every shop wants to message every customer. Not every message is allowed.
For Ranaghat's saree and cloth shops in a subdivision that includes Shantipur's looms, the businesses that serve commuters at its railway junction, its coaching centres and the transporters where SH-11 meets NH-12: a simple test for which message you may send, in Bengali or English, and what it costs.
See it work
Three weeks before Durga Puja, a shop near Ranaghat station has a list of customers and a phone full of things to tell them. Answer the questions to see which message is allowed, and as what.
Most of a Ranaghat shop's messages end on the first outcome, because customers write first. The last one matters most in the weeks before Puja: a number collected for a bill does not mean the customer wants offers.
