WhatsApp Business API for Modasa's traders, quarries and Shamlaji pilgrim trade

The headquarters of a district made in 2013, among the Aravalli hills, where farming and animal husbandry come first and the quarries of Dhansura and Bayad come next. Both trades run on orders, deliveries and dues.

Maize, wheat, chickpea, mustard, millet and cotton, with animal husbandry beside them.

For Modasa's grain, pulses and oilseed traders, the quarries of Dhansura and Bayad, guest houses for the Shamlaji fair and the town's shops: how an order travels from a WhatsApp menu to a truck number and a bill, which messages need a Gujarati template, and the rupee cost.

See it work

One grit order, from the menu to the dues reminder

A contractor messages a quarry firm's Modasa office for crushed grit for a site. Watch the order travel from a WhatsApp menu to the quarry in Dhansura, the billing software and back to the contractor.

The menu does the sorting a busy office cannot: grit size, site and date arrive as labels on the chat, so whoever picks it up in the Modasa office can quote at once inside the window the contractor opened.

From the quarry onwards the business is writing first, so the truck update is an approved utility template sent from the billing software through the API. Weeks later, the dues reminder goes the same way. The 24-hour service window explains why the two halves differ.

Modasa and Aravalli, from the district's own pages

From the Arvalli district administration's website.

Aravalli was carved out of Sabarkantha under a notification dated 13 August 2013, effective 15 August 2013, with Modasa as its headquarters; Sabarkantha was once part of the Mahikantha political agency.[1],[2]

The district covers 3,308 sq km and 676 villages in six talukas, Modasa, Bayad, Dhansura, Bhiloda, Malpur and Meghraj, with literacy at 75.84%; it lists Hindi and Gujarati as its languages.[1],[2]

The Vatrak, Meshwo, Mazum, Shedhi, Indrashi and Sakri cross the district, and the Aravalli range runs through it; Bhiloda and Meghraj are mainly tribal talukas.[2],[1]

Agriculture and animal husbandry are the main occupations, and maize, wheat, chickpea, mustard, millet and cotton the important crops.[2]

Quarrying is developed in Dhansura and Bayad talukas, and a solar park at Khadoda and Bhatkota in Modasa taluka employs more than 200 people and can supply about 20,000 households.[2]

Shamlaji, on the Meshwo, holds a large fair at Kartiki Poonam; Devni Mori, about 2 km away, was a Buddhist monastery site; the Zanzari waterfall on the Vatrak in Bayad taluka draws visitors from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Mahesana.[3],[2]

Modasa is on the Western Railway, with local trains to Nadiad; State Transport buses link it to towns in Gujarat and other states, and Ahmedabad airport is about 123 km away.[4]

Both are Meta template languages, approved once per language. English covers buyers and suppliers further afield.

In the tribal talukas of Bhiloda and Meghraj, customers may reply in their own dialect; staff can answer in it inside the 24-hour window, but templates stay in Gujarati or Hindi. InfiQ's own support team works in English and Hindi.

Questions Modasa businesses ask

  1. Q1

Our quarry in Dhansura taluka supplies grit to contractors. Can each contractor get the truck number and arrival time on WhatsApp?

Yes. Your billing or dispatch software calls InfiQ's API with an approved utility template carrying the vehicle number and arrival time, at ₹0.19 per delivered message. The contractor needs to have agreed to WhatsApp updates, for example when placing the first order.

  2. Q2

Pilgrims book our guest house near the Shamlaji temple for the Kartiki Poonam fair. Can we send them a reminder in Gujarati and Hindi?

Yes. A reminder about a pilgrim's own booking is a utility template at ₹0.19, with a Gujarati and a Hindi version each approved by Meta. A message inviting last year's guests to book again for the fair is marketing at ₹0.94 and goes only to those who opted in.

  3. Q3

Families from Ahmedabad ask our cab service about Zanzari waterfall trips on Saturday. Can we answer on Monday morning?

Only with a template. Free-form replies are allowed for 24 hours after the family's last message, so a Saturday morning question can be answered freely until Sunday morning. After that, only an approved template reaches them; a short reply on Saturday keeps the conversation going.

  4. Q4

We buy maize and chickpea from growers around Modasa. Can each grower's purchase bill and payment note go on WhatsApp?

Yes, to growers who agreed to WhatsApp messages. A purchase bill or payment-sent note is a utility template at ₹0.19; keep it in Gujarati with the weight, rate and amount. If the books are in Busy, InfiQ's integration sends payment reminders automatically, with no integration fee.

  5. Q5

Our shop in Bhiloda serves customers who reply in their own dialect. Which language should our templates use?

Gujarati or Hindi, whichever the customer reads more easily; the dialects of Bhiloda and Meghraj are not on Meta's template list. Once a customer replies, staff who speak their dialect can carry on in it for 24 hours, each reply at ₹0.145.

  6. Q6

Our cattle-feed shop near Malpur sells on credit to dairy farmers. Is a dues reminder a marketing message?

No. A reminder about a farmer's own unpaid bill is a utility template at ₹0.19, as long as it carries no offer. A message announcing a new feed or a discount is marketing at ₹0.94 and goes only to farmers who agreed to offers.
