Kavali and Nellore district in eight lines

Kavali is the headquarters of Kavali mandal and Kavali revenue division in Nellore district, governed by a municipal council, about 8 km from the Bay of Bengal.[8],[1]
The district was called Vikrama Simhapuri until the 13th century, was part of Madras State until 1 October 1953, and took the name Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore on 4 June 2008; its coast runs 163 km.[1]
On the district's economy page, with 2017-18 figures, prawns make up about 86% of the fishing sector's output, paddy about 73% of crop output and lemon about 39% of horticulture.[2]
Kavali station is on the Howrah–Chennai main line in the Vijayawada division; NH16 bypasses the town and NH167BG ends there.[8]
Ramayapatnam, a deep-sea port with container, coal and multi-purpose berths being built under the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board, is about 20 km away.[8],[9]
The town has Jawahar Bharati College, a VSU PG study centre and three engineering colleges.[8]
The ODOP list names Udayagiri wooden cutlery and Patturu cotton silk sarees as SPS Nellore's products.[3]
