WhatsApp Business API for Gonda's dal mills, pulse traders and Chhapaiya's guest houses
In Gonda the pulses come in from the fields, leave as polished dal, and every lorry that leaves the mill gate raises a question.
Arhar, gram, masoor, urad and moong come into Gonda's mills from the fields and leave cleaned, polished and packed. Most of the questions that follow a lorry out of the gate now arrive on WhatsApp.
For Gonda's dal mills and pulse traders, the shops of the Devipatan divisional town and the guest houses that host visitors to Chhapaiya: which WhatsApp message to send when an order runs late, how to prepare Hindi templates before you need them, and what each message costs in rupees.
Gonda in seven lines
From the Gonda district administration, Uttar Pradesh's ODOP portal and Invest India's ODOP list.
Gonda is the headquarters of the district and the administrative centre of the Devipatan division, on the Ghaghra in Purvanchal. The district covers 4,003 sq km in four tehsils, Gonda, Mankapur, Colonelganj and Tarabganj, with 1,821 villages.[1],[2]
It borders Shrawasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Faizabad, Barabanki and Bahraich, and lists Hindi and Awadhi as its languages.[1]
The district's history page notes that Patanjali called himself a Gonardya, and honours Raja Devi Bakash Singh, who fought the British and built the Sagra pond.[2]
The Shree Swaminarayan Mandir at Chhapaiya marks the birthplace of Bhagwan Swaminarayan; the Prithvinath, Barahi Devi and Khaira Bhavani temples are among the district's older shrines.[1],[2]
Food processing is Gonda's One District One Product. The state's ODOP portal describes it as pulse processing of arhar, gram, masoor, urad and moong: cleaning, grading, de-husking, milling, polishing and packaging.[5],[4]
The same portal calls agriculture the district's main economic base and Gonda an important centre for value addition and agricultural trade.[4]
Lucknow airport is about 133 km away; Gonda station has trains to New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.[3]

A lorry of dal will be a day late: what does the mill send?
A Gonda mill's lorry of arhar dal for a wholesaler in Lucknow is held up. Answer the questions to find the message the mill can send, and what Meta counts it as.
The branch that catches mills out is the third outcome: a dispatch template approved without a date variable cannot tell a buyer that the date has changed. Writing update templates with the date, the lorry and the order number as variables, before the first delay, keeps the second outcome open.
The 24-hour service window explains where free replies end and templates begin.
One late lorry, five possible messages
Question 1 · up to 2
Has the wholesaler written to you in the last 24 hours?
Your answers
None yet — pick an answer to start down the tree.
Path map
Depth 0 of up to 2. Circles are questions, squares are outcomes.
All possible outcomes (5)
Free-form reply
Tell him the new arrival day, the lorry number and the driver's phone in Hindi. No template is needed, and the reply is charged at the service rate.
Path: “Yes, asking where the lorry is”
Utility template
Send the approved update with the order number and the new date filled in. It reaches him even though he has not written, at the utility rate.
Path: “No, not since he ordered” → “Yes, approved in Hindi”
Submit a template first
A dispatch note without a date variable cannot carry the change. Submit an update template for Meta's review; until it is approved, phone the buyer or wait for him to write.
Path: “No, not since he ordered” → “No, we only have the dispatch note”
Marketing template
An offer, such as a better rate on his next order, goes as an approved marketing template, separately from the delay notice.
Path: “We also want to offer something for the wait” → “Yes, and it is recorded”
Send the update, not the offer
Keep the delay notice to utility. Ask for his opt-in the next time he writes, record it, and only then send offers.
Path: “We also want to offer something for the wait” → “Not that we know”
Question 1: Has the wholesaler written to you in the last 24 hours? 3 options.
Industries
Who in Gonda writes first
Four kinds of business in the divisional town and the district, and the messages each sends most.
- 01
- 02
Grain and pulse traders
Gonda is, in the ODOP portal's words, an important centre for agricultural trade, buying from growers and selling on.[4]
On WhatsApp: Price replies to buyers who asked · Weighment and receipt notes · New-season rates to opted-in buyers
- 03
Shops in the divisional town
As the Devipatan division's headquarters, bordered by seven districts, Gonda serves customers from across the region.[1]
On WhatsApp: Stock and price replies · Order-ready notices · Credit reminders
- 04
Guest houses at Chhapaiya
The Shree Swaminarayan Mandir at Chhapaiya, the birthplace of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, brings devotees who book rooms ahead.[1]
On WhatsApp: Room and booking confirmations · Directions from Gonda station · Replies to group enquiries
Hindi first, then the languages your buyers and guests read
Meta approves each template once per language. Write the Hindi version first.
Awadhi, which the district lists beside Hindi, is not a Meta template language, so templates go in Hindi. Replies inside the 24 hours after a customer writes can be in Awadhi or any language your staff write. InfiQ's own support works in English and Hindi.
| Language | Meta code | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Hindi | hi | Mills, traders, shops and buyers across Uttar Pradesh |
| English (India) | en_IN | Buyers' offices in other states, banks and invoices |
| Gujarati | gu | For Chhapaiya guest houses whose visitors read Gujarati |

Questions Gonda businesses ask
- A lorry of arhar dal from our Gonda mill will reach a Lucknow wholesaler a day late. Can we tell him without a template?
- Only if he has written to you in the last 24 hours; then a free-form reply at ₹0.145 is enough. If not, you need an approved utility template that can carry the new date, at ₹0.19. That is why update templates are best written with the date as a variable.
- Several staff at our mill answer buyers about masoor and urad lots from Gonda. Can we all use one WhatsApp number?
- Yes. The shared team inbox gives 10 users on Lite and 25 on Growth, with transfers, labels and private notes, so the rate desk can quote while dispatch shares the lorry details in the same thread.
- Devotees ask our guest house near the Swaminarayan Mandir at Chhapaiya about rooms. Can our confirmation be in Gujarati?
- Yes. Gujarati is a Meta template language, so a booking confirmation can be approved in Gujarati beside Hindi and English, once per language. Replies to a devotee's questions inside the 24-hour window can be in any language at the service rate.
- Our pulse mill in the Devipatan division wants to send new-season moong and gram rates to wholesalers. What do we need first?
- Each wholesaler's opt-in to offers from you, recorded with its date and source, and an approved marketing template. Rates sent that way cost ₹0.94 each. A wholesaler who asks for the rate himself can be answered at the service rate, with no template.
- Customers around Colonelganj and Tarabganj speak Awadhi. Can our templates be in Awadhi?
- No. Awadhi is not on Meta's list of template languages, so templates go in Hindi. After a customer writes, your staff can reply in Awadhi for the next 24 hours, with no template needed, at ₹0.145 per message.
- Our dal mill in Gonda's Mankapur tehsil keeps its accounts in Busy. Can invoices and payment reminders go out on WhatsApp from it?
- Yes. InfiQ's native Busy integration sends invoices and other documents and automatic payment reminders on WhatsApp, with no integration fee. Reminders go as approved utility templates at ₹0.19.
