A business day in Bishnupur
Bishnupur's temples are brick and terracotta, built by Malla kings in the seventeenth century, and its looms still weave Baluchari. A visitor's first message often asks for a room, a guide and a saree at once.
A guest asks for a guide to the Rasmancha before the sun is high.
A Kolkata boutique asks a Baluchari weaver for a photo of the pallu.
A buyer in Delhi orders a pair of Panchmura terracotta horses.
A Dokra workshop sends the courier note for a lamp.
A guest house confirms two rooms for the Bishnupur Mela.
For the Malla capital's Baluchari weavers, the terracotta and Dokra makers behind Bankura's ODOP list, the painters of Dashavatar cards, and the guest houses, guides and cars that serve visitors to the Rasmancha and the Jor Bangla: how one number's chats reach rooms, guides and craft desks, in Bengali, and what each costs.
See it work
A family guest house near the temples lets rooms, sends guides, sources Baluchari and terracotta for guests and runs a car to the station. Pick a routing rule and watch a weekend's chats find the right desk.
Sticky routing keeps a guest with the person who answered first, so the family that booked rooms on Tuesday reaches the same desk when they ask for a guide on Saturday. A craft question goes to the one person who knows the weavers.
Every answer inside 24 hours of the guest's message is a reply at the service rate, whichever desk sends it.

Market brief
From the Bankura and Birbhum district administrations and Invest India's ODOP list; the temples' style, the crafts and the gharana are general background from Wikipedia.
Adi Malla founded the Malla dynasty and ruled from Laugram; Jay Malla extended its lands and shifted the capital to Bishnupur.[2]
Bir Hambir, who flourished around 1586, introduced the worship of Madan Mohan in Bishnupur.[2]
Raghunath Singh built the Shyam Rai, Jor Bangla and Kalachand temples between 1643 and 1656, and Bir Singh built the present fort and the temple of Lalji in 1658.[2]
In 1787 Bishnupur was joined with Birbhum as one administrative unit; Vishnupur passed to the Burdwan Collectorate in 1793, and the district was known for a time as West Burdwan before taking the name Bankura in 1881.[2],[4]
Invest India's ODOP list names terracotta, Dokra and Baluchari for Bankura district, and the district's own site shows Baluchari sari making, terracotta at Panchmura and the Poramatir Haat at Bishnupur.[5],[1]
The Malla temples, the Rasmancha among them, are terracotta and brick of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries; the Dalmadal cannon stands in the town.[6]
Baluchari silk is woven on Jacquard looms with scenes from the epics in its border and pallu; round Dashavatar cards are painted by the Foujdar family, and brass and bell-metal work continues; the Bishnupur gharana of Dhrupad grew under Malla patronage.[6]
Bishnupur's PIN code is 722122; Panchmura's is 722156.[3]
Four trades from the looms, the kilns, the foundries and the temples.
Baluchari is one of Bankura's three ODOP products, its borders and pallus woven with scenes from the epics.[5],[6]
Terracotta and Dokra are the district's other ODOP products, with terracotta work at Panchmura nearby.[5],[1]
The Malla temples and the fort draw visitors who book rooms, walks and pickups.[2],[6]
Dashavatar cards, brass and bell metal, and the Bishnupur gharana keep small workshops and classes going.[6]
Bengali is the town's main language and a Meta template language; most visitors from other states read Hindi or English.
Each language is a separate template under the same name, approved by Meta on its own. Replies need no template, so desks answer in whatever a guest writes; InfiQ's own support works in English and Hindi.
| Language | Meta code | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Bengali | bn | Guests from Kolkata, local customers, weavers and students |
| Hindi | hi | Visitors and craft buyers from other states |
