In Bijnor the cane sets the calendar, and at Shakarpuri the mango traders' questions arrive before the day's picking.
Bijnor's district counts King Bharat, Vidur and the brothers Abul Fazl and Faizi among its own. Its living is sugarcane; at Shakarpuri, on the Najibabad–Bijnor highway, the mango orchards hear from traders on WhatsApp before the day's picking starts.
For Bijnor, the district town where sugarcane is the main economic activity: how a Shakarpuri mango orchard answers traders inside WhatsApp's 24-hour window, when wood-craft and brush makers and Vidur Kuti trip operators need templates instead, which messages suit Hindi and English, and what each costs.
Market brief
From the Bijnor district administration, Uttar Pradesh's ODOP portal, Invest India's list and Meta.
Bijnor district occupies the north-west corner of Moradabad division and covers 4,049 sq km, with 11 blocks and 2,519 villages. Its languages are Hindi and English.[1]
The district calls itself the birthplace of King Bharat, son of Dushyant and Shakuntala, associated with the Kanva Ashram, and says Akbar's courtiers Abul Fazl and Faizi were born and raised in the region.[2]
Vidur Kuti, about 12 km from Bijnor, is where the district says Mahatma Vidur spent his later years; Daranagar is named for the place he set aside for the women and children of both sides in the war.[2]
Sugarcane production is the district's main economic activity, with some agro-industrial units. Sherkot is known for brush-making and Nagina for handicraft, and Shakarpuri on the Najibabad–Bijnor highway for mangoes and sugarcane.[3],[2]
Wood craft is Bijnor's One District One Product; the state's ODOP portal describes utility items, decorative pieces and furniture components made from locally available wood.[6],[5]
Bijnor has no airport; Dehradun is 142 km away and New Delhi's airport 170 km. Trains link the town with Moradabad, Delhi and Lucknow, and Najibabad and Dhampur are the district's other main stations.[4]
Meta allows free-form messages only inside the 24-hour window a customer opens by writing, charges each delivered message by category and the recipient's country code, and asks for each person's opt-in, naming the business, before a business messages them.[7],[8]
See it work
In the picking season a trader writes to an orchard at Shakarpuri before the day's work starts. Drag the clock to see what the orchard can still send free-form, and when it needs a template.
The orchard has until half past six the next morning to finish the conversation free-form; if the trader writes again, the 24 hours start over from his new message. If the crates he wants are ready only next week, that news goes as a utility template about his order, because by then he has not written for days.
Most of a picking-season day at a Shakarpuri orchard is replies, each charged at the service rate. The templates are the few notes that go out after silence: crates ready, load dispatched, payment received.

Four kinds of business the district's pages point to.
The district names Shakarpuri, on the Najibabad–Bijnor highway, for its mangoes and sugarcane, and orchards sell their pick to traders.[3],[2]
Utility items, decorative pieces and furniture components, sold to shops and buyers who choose from photos.[5]
The district's Economy page says Sherkot is known for brush-making; a maker or depot confirms orders, dispatches and payments with traders.[3]
Visitors come for the sites the district ties to the Mahabharata and to Shakuntala, often by car from the station or from Dehradun or Delhi.[2],[4]
Bijnor's district website begins its history with Shakuntala: Dushyant meeting her while hunting, Bharat born near the Kanva Ashram, Vidur leaving Hastinapur to spend his last years at Vidur Kuti. Visitors who come for those stories mostly arrive by car, ask the way and want to know what time to leave.
That is a trip operator's whole WhatsApp traffic, and it splits cleanly: the booking confirmation and the pickup time are utility templates, sent even if the visitor has gone quiet; the directions and the questions on the day are replies. Only an offer for next season's trips needs the visitor's yes.
The district gives Hindi and English as its languages, and both are Meta template languages.
Meta approves each language version of a template separately, so a shop that sends its order-arrived note in Hindi and in English approves it twice, and pays the same for either. Inside the 24-hour window, staff can reply in whatever the grower writes. InfiQ's own support works in English and Hindi.
| Language | Meta code | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Hindi | hi | Growers, shops, visitors and most customers |
| English (India) | en_IN | Invoices and buyers of wood craft and brushes in other states |
