UFMG, whose main address is on Avenida Antônio Carlos in Pampulha, counts more than 52,000 students across all levels of study.[1]
In February 2026 the Federal University of Minas Gerais signed an agreement with India's Indian Institute of Mass Communication.[2]
Minas Gerais has 853 municipalities and no direct access to the sea; Belo Horizonte is its capital.[3]
Coffee arrived in Minas Gerais in the early nineteenth century and soon became the province's main activity, after gold output had begun to fall around 1750; from the 1970s the state's industry diversified.[4]
Belo Horizonte's international airport lists about 70 destinations in Brazil and abroad, and a direct cargo route from Miami carried more than 800 tonnes in its first year.[5]
Bajaj, Royal Enfield, Hero, TVS, Tata Motors and Mahindra Tractors are among the Indian automotive names in Brazil, according to the Embassy of India.[2]
