Sultanpur in seven lines
From the Sultanpur district administration, Uttar Pradesh's ODOP portal and Invest India's list, with Wikipedia only for the town's history, roads and railway.
The district covers 2,672.89 sq km, with 5 tehsils, 15 blocks and 1,765 villages; its languages are Hindi and Awadhi.[1]
The district calls itself the Land of Maharaja Kush: tradition holds that the town was founded by Kusa, son of Rama, as Kusapura or Kusabhavanpur.[1]
Kusbhawanpur was renamed Sultanpur after Alauddin Khalji settled the area in 1305; the British razed old Sultanpur after the rebellion of 1857.[4]
The city stands on the right bank of the Gomti; at Sitakund on the river, bathing fairs are held in Chaitra and Kartika.[1]
Moonj products and iron and steel fabrication are the district's ODOP products: baskets, containers, mats, trays and handbags woven from moonj grass, and gates, grills, furniture, structures and farm implements.[3],[2]
Sultanpur Junction (SLN) opened in 1872 on the Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway's Varanasi–Lucknow line and is in Northern Railway's Lucknow division; the city is about 135 km east of Lucknow.[4]
The four-lane NH 731 from Lucknow to Jaunpur and the Purvanchal Expressway from Lucknow to Ghazipur serve the city, and Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology is in Sultanpur.[4]

A town that makes things to order
A moonj basket and a steel gate have one thing in common: neither is made until somebody asks.
Both of Sultanpur's ODOP lines are made to order. A weaver needs to know the size, colour and number of sets; a fabricator needs measurements and a design. The questions arrive on WhatsApp, often with a photo, and the answers go back inside the customer's 24-hour window.
After that comes waiting, and the messages that cover it: the order is being woven, the gate is painted, the sets are packed. Those are utility templates, approved once and sent whenever the work moves on.
