The change of headquarters moved the collectorate, not the people who write to Rayachoti's businesses. Rayachoti is known for its temple to Sri Veerabhadra Swamy, called Dakshina Kaasi, on the bank of the Mandavya river.[8]
NH40 from Kurnool towards Chittoor passes through the town, and NH340 carries the Bengaluru–Madanapalle–Rayachoti–Kadapa corridor; a station is being built on the Kadapa–Bengaluru rail project.[8]
The town has a District Institute of Education and Training dating to British rule, an engineering college and a government polytechnic.[8]
Annamayya was formed on 4 April 2022 from parts of Chittoor and YSR Kadapa; after the redrawing of 31 December 2025 its revenue divisions are Madanapalle, Pileru and Rayachoti.[9]
The ODOP list names cotton and jean pants, red sanders and wood carvings, Raja Rani dolls, applique work and Madanapalle silk sarees for Annamayya.[1]
The district site lists paddy, groundnut, sunflower, cotton and betel leaves among its crops, and mango, papaya, banana, lemon and sweet orange among its fruit.[2]
