A town measured from the dam
Punasa's distances are given from Indira Sagar, and so are many of its customers.
NHDC describes its Indira Sagar Project as standing on the right bank of the Narmada about 10 km from Punasa village. The foundation stone was laid on 23 October 1984; today the surface power house holds eight 125 MW units. Its tender notices name the site as Narmada Nagar, and the district's own photo captions do the same.
The numbers that matter to a business here are the travel ones. From the project, NHDC counts 70 km to the Khandwa railhead and 140 km to Indore airport. Anyone who books a room, a boat or a taxi in Punasa usually does it from far away, and usually on WhatsApp, which is why the page follows one booking from first message to checkout.
