Ladnun, earlier known as Chanderi Nagari, is a town, a municipality and a tehsil headquarters; it was in Nagaur district and is now in Didwana-Kuchaman district.[4]
Rao Maldeo Rathore of Jodhpur brought it under Rathore control in the 16th century; it stayed part of Jodhpur State until the mid-20th century, an administrative and trade centre on the Marwar trade route.[4]
The town's Digambara Bara Jain Temple carries an inscription dating to 1229.[4]
Jain Vishva Bharati Institute is in Ladnun, with departments of Jainology and Comparative Religion and Philosophy, Prakrit and Sanskrit, Nonviolence and Peace, Yoga and Science of Living, Education, English, Rajasthani Language and Literature and Acharya Tulsi Music, a college of naturopathy and yoga, and distance education.[1]
The institute lists two trains from Delhi: the Salasar Superfast, arriving at 13:43, and the Delhi–Jodhpur Superfast, arriving at 05:21.[2]
By its count Ladnun is 400 km by road from Delhi, 220 km from Jaipur, 235 km from Jodhpur, 190 km from Ajmer and 60 km from Ratangarh; the road from Jaipur runs through Sikar, Salasar and Sujangarh, and from Ajmer through Kuchaman City and Deedwana.[2]
Invest India's ODOP list (V33) names marble and granite products for Deedwana-Kuchaman district and pan methi and spice processing for Nagaur.[5]
IBEF lists Hindi, Marwari and English among Rajasthan's languages.[6]
