A business day in Koratla

WhatsApp Business API for Koratla's mango traders, cold storages and travel desks

Koratla was Koravattu once, a Jain centre with a stepwell inscribed in the eleventh century. Today a buyer may write from Hyderabad, 235 km away, and the clock that matters is the 24 hours after their last message.

  1. 06:00

The first buses leave the Korutla depot for Hyderabad and Karimnagar.

  2. 07:00

A mango buyer writes for the day's rate before the lorry loads.

  3. 10:00

Farmers ask the cold storage about space and the month's rent.

  4. 16:00

Parents of veterinary students ask a hostel about rooms.

  5. 20:00

A travel desk confirms tomorrow's seats to Tirupati.

For Koratla's mango traders selling Jagtial's ODOP fruit, the cold storages of Korutla mandal, the hostels near its veterinary college and the travel desks at its bus stand: how long a buyer's message lets you reply freely, when a template takes over, and what each message costs in rupees.

See it work

One Hyderabad mango buyer's 24 hours with a Koratla trader

A buyer 235 km away writes to a Koratla mango trader before the morning lorry. Drag the clock to see when the trader may answer freely, what restarts the window, and when the next note has to be a template.

The window is counted from the buyer's last message, not the first. Every question the buyer sends restarts the 24 hours, so a trader who answers while the buyer is still asking never needs a template for the conversation itself.

What does need a template is the note that goes out after the buyer has gone quiet: the dispatch message when the lorry leaves, or a payment reminder a week later. Those are approved once as utility templates and sent at the India rate.

Koratla in eight lines

From the Jagtial district administration and Invest India's ODOP list; the town's history, temples and roads from Wikipedia as background only.

Jagtial district, carved out of Karimnagar, has three revenue divisions, at Jagtial, Metpalle and Korutla, and lists Telugu and Hindi as its languages.[1]

The district places cold storages for farm produce in Jagtial and Korutla mandals, beedi-leaf factories and a veterinary college in Korutla mandal, and an RTC bus depot at Korutla.[2]

Invest India's ODOP list names mango for Jagtial district.[3]

The town was known as Koravattu and Koravatlu before Korutla, and was a Jain centre ruled by the Rashtrakutas and the Vemulawada and Kalyani Chalukyas.[4]

Inscriptions dated 1042 to 1068 CE were found at its stepwell, and five of the six watch towers that ringed the old palace, the Gadi, still stand.[4]

Four Shiva temples from the tenth century, Mahadevaswamy, Nagareshwaraswamy, Ramanathaswamy and Rameshwara, stand in the town.[4]

NH 63 passes through Koratla; Jagtial is about 23 km away, Karimnagar 73 km, Nizamabad 76 km and Hyderabad 235 km.[4]

Koratla station, code KRLA, is on the Peddapalli–Nizamabad line, and buses from the town run to Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Tirupati.[4]
