Khambhalia and Devbhumi Dwarka

Devbhumi Dwarka was carved out of Jamnagar district on 15 August 2013, with its headquarters at Jam Khambhalia; it takes its name from the Dwarkadhish temple.[1],[2]
It has 2 prants and 4 talukas, Khambhaliya and Bhanvad in the Khambhalia sub-division and Okha-mandal and Kalyanpur in the Dwarka sub-division, with 249 villages and 6 municipalities.[2]
The district lies in Saurashtra, bounded by the Arabian Sea and the Jamnagar and Porbandar districts.[2]
Khambhalia's old town is walled, with five gates, Nagar, Por, Jodhpur, Salaya and Dwarka, on raised ground by the Ghee and Teli rivers.[5]
Ghee, cottonseed and groundnut are its traditional trade goods, and a fair is held near the Ramnath temple on the last three days of Shravan.[5]
Khambhalia station is on the Viramgam–Okha line, with a branch to Salaya.[5]
Beyt Dwarka, about 30 km from Dwarka, was the area's main port before Okha; the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga temple draws large crowds at Shivratri.[3]
