Kakinada district was formed on 4 April 2022 out of East Godavari district, with its headquarters at Kakinada and revenue divisions at Kakinada and Peddapuram.[1],[2]

The deep-water port's main jetty has seven berths and an offshore supply vessel berth, takes ships up to 295 m long and reaches a draught of 14 m at high tide.[3]
