Chintamani in seven lines

Chikkaballapur district was established on 10 November 2007, when it was separated from Kolar district; it has six taluks and lists Kannada as its language.[1]
The district calls itself a major site for grape, grain and silk cultivation; agriculture, horticulture, dairy farming and sericulture are its main occupations, and its crops include ragi, maize, grapes, pomegranates and tomatoes.[1]
The town is said to be named after Chintamani Rao, a Maratha chieftain; it is a taluk headquarters on the Deccan plateau, and its taluk borders Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh to the east.[3]
Chintamani is known for its silk and its tomatoes, with onions, groundnuts and mangoes also grown around it; snacks such as chakli and nippat, the nannari drink and agarbatti are made in the town.[3]
Invest India's ODOP list names ESDM for Chikkaballapura, with Sidlaghatta silk and raw silk based sarees as its second entry; the district notes silk industries particularly in Sidlaghatta.[2],[1]
Kaivara, the Ambaji Durga and Kailasagiri cave temples, and the dargah and Muktheshwara temple at Murugamalla lie in and around the taluk; Chintamani station (CMY) saw passenger trains return in November 2013.[3]
