WhatsApp Business API for Bhandara's rice mills and brass shops

Bhandara sits where the Sur meets the Wainganga, an hour by train from Nagpur. Its rice goes out by the truckload and its brass by the set, and the buyers of both ask first on WhatsApp.

Trade 1

Rice

The district's first ODOP product and the crop most farmers around the town grow, milled here and sold to traders by the truck.

Trade 2

Brass

The metal that gave Bhandara the name Brass City, sold as vessels and sets to families who choose them from photos first.

For Bhandara's rice mills and traders, the brass and metal-ware shops of Brass City, the district's mineral-product units and the guesthouses near Koka: how one wholesaler's order runs on the official WhatsApp Business API, which messages need approved Marathi or Hindi templates, and what each one costs in rupees.

See it work

A Nagpur wholesaler orders a truck of Bhandara rice

Rice is Bhandara's first ODOP product, and most of it leaves the town by road for traders who ask the rate before they buy. Step through one order to see which messages are replies and which are templates the mill sends on its own.

Everything the wholesaler starts is a conversation, so the rate, the sample photos and the loading days are replies, typed by whoever is at the mill's desk. What the mill sends on its own afterwards, the invoice, the truck note and the reminder, needs an approved template, and can be sent from the books rather than typed.

The 24-hour service window explains when a reply needs no template.

Market brief

Bhandara in seven lines

From the Bhandara district website, Invest India's ODOP list and IBEF's Maharashtra profile; the rivers, the Brass City name and the station from the encyclopaedia, as general background.

  1. 01

The district traces its name to 'Bhanara', found in an inscription of 1100 A.D. traced at Ratanpur; it was run from Lanji until its headquarters moved to Bhandara in 1820–21.[1]

  2. 02

The area became British territory in 1853 and belonged to the Central Provinces with the other Vidarbha districts from 1947 to 1956, when it moved from Madhya Pradesh to Bombay State; it became part of Maharashtra in 1960.[1]

  3. 03

Invest India's ODOP list names rice as Bhandara's primary product and mineral-based products as its secondary one.[4]

  4. 04

The town stands near the confluence of the Wainganga and its tributary the Sur, and it is known for brass, under the name Brass City; Bhandara Road station (BRD) serves it.[6]

  5. 05

Nagpur's airport is about 65 km away, the road from Nagpur through Pardi is about 60 km, and the train from Nagpur to Warthi station takes about an hour.[2]

  6. 06

The district's tourist list includes the Gosikhurd project, or Indirasagar Dam, built for irrigation, the Rawanwadi dam, the Koka wildlife sanctuary and part of Umred Karhandla sanctuary in Pauni tahsil.[3]

  7. 07

IBEF lists food and agro processing, textiles and engineering among Maharashtra's key industries.[5]

Four kinds of business, from the mill yard to the forest road.

  1. 01

    Rice mills and rice traders

Rice is the district's primary ODOP product and the crop most farmers around the town grow, so mills field rate questions from traders all season.[4],[6]

On WhatsApp: Rates and sample photos in reply · Invoices with lot numbers · Truck notes and payment reminders

  2. 02

    Brass and metal-ware shops

Brass gave the town its Brass City name. Families choosing vessels want photos, weights and a ready date before they come in.[6]

On WhatsApp: Photos of sets in reply · Order-ready notices · Festival offers to customers who opted in

  3. 03

    Mineral-based product units

The district's secondary ODOP product, sold to buyers in other districts and states who need order and dispatch details in writing.[4]

On WhatsApp: Order confirmations · Dispatch notes with the invoice · Login codes for a buyer portal

  4. 04

Guesthouses and drivers near the sanctuaries

On WhatsApp: Room and pickup replies · Booking confirmations · A reminder the day before arrival

Marathi at the mill, Hindi for buyers to the north

Bhandara belonged to Madhya Pradesh until 1956, and a mill that sells to traders there will want Hindi as well as Marathi. Meta approves each template once per language, so keep a Marathi and a Hindi version of each, and English for invoices.

Inside the 24-hour window after a buyer writes, the mill desk can reply in any language without a template. InfiQ's own support works in English and Hindi.

Questions Bhandara businesses ask

  1. Q1

Wholesalers in Nagpur ask our Bhandara rice mill for the week's rate on WhatsApp. Is each answer charged as a template?

No. When the wholesaler writes first, your rates, sample photos and loading days are replies inside the 24-hour window, at ₹0.145 each, with no template needed. Each new message from the buyer opens a fresh window.

  2. Q2

Families ask our Brass City vessel shop for photos of sets before they visit. Can we send a ready notice when their set is packed?

Yes. Photos and prices sent after the family writes are replies at ₹0.145 each. A ready notice sent days later, when the window has closed, is a utility template at ₹0.19, approved once in Marathi and used for every order.

  3. Q3

Our mill near the Wainganga sends an invoice and the truck number after every load to buyers. Which category are those?

Both are utility templates at ₹0.19: they are about an order the buyer already placed and carry no offer. Busy can send the invoice automatically, and InfiQ's API can send the truck note from your dispatch sheet.

  4. Q4

We supply mineral-based products from Bhandara district to buyers in Madhya Pradesh. Should our dispatch notes be in Hindi?

If your buyers read Hindi, approve a Hindi (hi) version beside the Marathi one; Meta reviews each language separately and both cost the same ₹0.19. Replies inside the 24-hour window need no template, in any language.

  5. Q5

Visitors write to our guesthouse near Koka wildlife sanctuary before a safari. Can we remind them the day before they arrive?

Yes. A reminder about a booking the visitor made is a utility template at ₹0.19, sent once your guesthouse has their number and their agreement to hear from you on WhatsApp. Room and pickup questions they send are replies at ₹0.145.

  6. Q6

After the harvest, our Bhandara rice trader wants to tell last season's buyers that new-crop rice is ready. Can we broadcast it?

Only to buyers who agreed to receive offers. A new-crop note is a marketing template at ₹0.94, and a past purchase is not that agreement. Record each yes with its date and source; the DPDP Act's consent duties apply from 13 May 2027.
