India–Belgium trade was US$ 13.01 billion in 2025-26. Precious metals and stones head the Embassy's list of goods traded both ways, and it calls the diamond trade a significant component of it.[1]
The Antwerp World Diamond Centre represents more than 1,300 registered diamond companies, four bourses and 3,300 jobs, and puts the trade's annual imports and exports at US$ 19.1 billion. Antwerp's diamond trade dates back to 1447.[2]
The Embassy counts about 35,000 Indians in Belgium, including 1,131 students and, by occupation, 8,000 diamond business professionals and 9,000 IT professionals.[1]
An MoU between India's Ministry of Shipping and the Antwerp Port Authority supports training for Indian port officials; in 2025 IIFT signed one with APEC, the Antwerp Port Training Centre.[1]
