In detail
Yes. Meta added support for Indian (+91) WhatsApp Business app numbers on 5 May 2025, about three months after coexistence launched in February 2025. Indian businesses can connect through a provider Meta supports for this, such as InfiQ.
Being in India isn't the only check. The number must be on the WhatsApp Business app, not personal WhatsApp. The app must be version 2.24.17 or later. Meta also looks at activity on the app, so brand-new or rarely used accounts may not qualify straight away; Meta doesn't publish a fixed number of days. The number can't be connected to another provider at the same time. Meta doesn't list business verification as a requirement, though verifying raises your daily messaging limit.
Outside India, Meta extended coexistence on 23 October 2025 to the UK, the EU and EEA, Australia, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, Turkey and Russia. Meta no longer publishes a list of excluded regions. If a number's region isn't supported, the signup says so before anything changes. As with the WhatsApp Business Platform generally, businesses in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine can't use it, and people there can't receive platform messages.
For Indian businesses the pricing split matters. One-to-one messages sent from the WhatsApp Business app stay free. Messages sent from the platform follow Meta's per-message pricing for India, and from 1 October 2026 that includes replies sent inside the 24-hour customer service window. A practical split is to keep personal one-to-one chats on the app and use the platform for campaigns, reminders and automation.
