Who in India sends what first to Wellington

Four Indian senders, the first template each one sends a Wellington contact, its category, its language and when it should land.

Three of the four first messages are utility: an order, a service visit and an offer letter are all things the Wellington contact already asked for. Only the textile range is marketing, and New Zealand's spam law, which names instant messaging, wants the sender identified and a working unsubscribe in it; the New Zealand guide explains the three steps.

The landing column is the easiest one to get wrong from India. Wellington's 09:00 is the middle of the Indian night for half the year and very early morning for the rest, so every template here should be scheduled in New Zealand time and sent by the platform, not by someone in India staying up.

Wellington and India, from the High Commission

From the High Commission of India in Wellington, read on 20 October 2026.

The High Commission, at 72 Pipitea Street, serves applicants in every New Zealand region except Northland, Auckland and Waikato, and also covers Samoa, Niue, Vanuatu and the Cook Islands.[1]

The India–New Zealand FTA was concluded on 22 December 2025, signed in New Delhi in April 2026, and enters into force on 20 October 2026.[2],[1]

New Zealand removes duty on all Indian exports from entry into force, while India eliminates or reduces duties on 95% of New Zealand's exports, with 57% duty-free from day one.[2]

India's main exports to New Zealand are pharmaceuticals, mechanical machinery, made-up textile articles and electrical machinery; New Zealand sends fruit and nuts, wood, aluminium and wool.[2]

India is the second-largest source of international students in New Zealand after China, with about 12,800 now against a peak of about 30,000 in 2015.[2]

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an official visit to New Zealand on 10–11 July 2026, and President Murmu's state visit in August 2024 was to Wellington.[1],[2]

English (New Zealand) first, Hindi where families ask

Meta lists English (NZL) and Hindi; te reo Māori, an official language of New Zealand, is not on its template list.

The High Commission counts about 70,000 Indian passport holders in New Zealand, about 35,000 of them of Fijian-Indian descent, and MEA counts 300,000 overseas Indians there in all. Ask each contact which language they want rather than guessing.

Replies inside the 24-hour service window are not templates, so a team member can answer a Wellington customer in te reo Māori, Hindi or any other language they write in.
