What brought India to Nice

Mostly from the Consulate General of India in Marseille's bilateral brief, with INSEE, the airport and Sophia Antipolis for the city itself.

Prime Minister Modi made an official visit to France in Nice on 13–14 June 2026; the two leaders jointly inaugurated Bharat Innovates, which showcased 120 deep-tech startups.[1]

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal visited Sophia Antipolis, which the brief calls Europe's top science and technology hub, and launched UPI at Galeries Lafayette Nice Massena in June 2026.[1]

By June 2026 about 9,000 UPI transactions worth nearly €930,000 had been recorded in France since the launch.[1]

Nice hosted the seventh International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure on 7 June 2025 and the third UN Ocean Conference on 9–13 June 2025.[1]

Sophia Antipolis lists AI, cybersecurity, health and biotech, ICT, newspace, and yachting and bluetech among its sectors.[3]

Nice Côte d'Azur Airport lists 127 direct destinations, 11 of them in the Middle East.[4]

French numbers have ten digits starting with 0: landlines in the south-east start 04 and mobiles 06 or 07. The API drops the 0 and adds +33. In Nice the 06 that starts the postcode is not a phone prefix; keep postcodes and phone numbers in separate fields so an import never confuses them.

Nice keeps Central European Time. A 09:00 hotel confirmation there leaves India at 13:30 IST in winter and 12:30 IST in summer, and a guest's question at 20:00 on the Riviera reaches India after midnight. The 24-hour window keeps it answerable in the Indian morning.
