WhatsApp Business API for Copenhagen, where consent names the channel
Denmark's Consumer Ombudsman counts a private message as electronic mail and will not let consent given for one channel stretch to another. A Copenhagen customer who said yes to your emails has not said yes to WhatsApp.
For Indian brands, NRI services, pharma and green-energy suppliers with customers in Copenhagen: why Danish guidance will not let email consent cover WhatsApp offers, how to ask again properly, which language to write in, when to send on Copenhagen time and what a +45 message costs in rupees.
See it work
The consent you have, and the consent WhatsApp needs
An Indian brand with a Copenhagen newsletter list wants to send its next offer on WhatsApp instead. Compare what each kind of consent allows.
The Consumer Ombudsman's guidance is plain on both points. Private messages on a messaging service are electronic mail, and consent to marketing by email may not be extended to text messages or other channels. It also says the ban applies whether the trader is established in Denmark or outside it, which includes a brand writing from India.
The practical answer is an invitation, not a migration: a line in your next email or on your Danish checkout page with a link that opens a WhatsApp chat, and a consent sentence that names WhatsApp and the kind of messages you will send.

Plan prices are monthly, in rupees, excluding GST; yearly billing is two months free. Messages are charged per delivered message on top of the plan, at the rate for the recipient’s country. Full details: InfiQ pricing. A Copenhagen resident who kept an Indian +91 number is charged the India rate, ₹0.19 for a utility message. What a Copenhagen programme needs from InfiQ
Consent that names its channel, and templates in the customer's language.
- Consent records and opt-out enforcement
Each contact's opt-in source and time are recorded, STOP replies are enforced at platform level (even against later imports), and the audit trail exports.
Each Copenhagen contact's WhatsApp opt-in is stored with its source and time, apart from any email consent, and STOP blocks later sends.
- Template manager and library
Draft, submit and track WhatsApp message templates for Meta's approval, starting from a library of 1,000+ ready templates in 27 categories.
Draft the da, en and hi versions of each update and track them through Meta's approval before the first +45 send.
- Broadcast campaigns
Send approved template campaigns to up to 2,00,000 contacts per broadcast, with segments, scheduling and delivery analytics.
Offers go only to the segment that opted in on WhatsApp, scheduled for Copenhagen time rather than IST.
- Shared team inbox
One WhatsApp number answered by a team: 10 users on Lite and 25 on Growth, agent and manager roles, transfers, private notes, labels and canned replies.
Replies from Copenhagen arrive through the Indian afternoon and evening; transfers and notes keep each thread with its owner.

Questions Copenhagen businesses ask
Question: Our D2C brand has thousands of Copenhagen subscribers on its email newsletter. Can we start sending them offers on WhatsApp?
Answer: Not on that consent. The Danish Consumer Ombudsman's guidance says consent to marketing by email may not be extended to other channels, and that private messages count as electronic mail. Invite subscribers instead: a link in the newsletter that opens a WhatsApp chat, and wording that names WhatsApp and the offers you will send.
Question: We write to Copenhagen from Bengaluru. Do Danish marketing rules really apply to a sender in India?
Answer: Yes. The guidance says a trader sending marketing by electronic mail to Danish recipients is subject to the Danish prohibition whether it is established in Denmark or outside it. Order updates and replies to a customer's own question are not marketing, but offers are, wherever the sender sits.
Question: Many of the 4,473 people of Indian origin in Copenhagen keep +91 numbers. Which rate do our NRI banking reminders use?
Answer: The rate follows the number's country code. A KYC or payment reminder to a +91 number costs the India utility rate, ₹0.19; the same reminder to a Danish +45 number costs ₹1.50. Store every number with its country code so the right rate and template language follow.
Question: Should order templates for shoppers in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg be in Danish or English?
Answer: Start with Danish, code da, for consumer messages, and add English, code en, for customers who choose it at opt-in. Meta approves each version separately, so submit both before your first send. Replies inside the 24-hour window can follow whatever language the customer writes in.
Question: Denmark's clocks go back on 25 October. What IST time lands a reminder in Copenhagen at 10:00 after that?
Answer: 14:30 IST, from 25 October 2026 until 28 March 2027, while Copenhagen is on Central European Time. In summer the same 10:00 is 13:30 IST. Schedule reminders in Copenhagen time and the platform keeps up with both changes.
Question: Our Indian company also runs a Danish ApS in Copenhagen. Which one should hold the WhatsApp account?
Answer: InfiQ serves India-based businesses: it invoices in rupees with GST and keeps customer data in India, so the Indian company is the natural account holder and can message +45 numbers at the regional rate. If the account must belong to the ApS based in Copenhagen, talk to sales about whether InfiQ fits.
