Bargarh is where the Sambalpuri sari is said to have begun, and for a few winter days each year it is Mathura. Its customers write in Odia and Sambalpuri; its templates have to be in Hindi or English.
For the Sambalpuri sari weavers and sellers of Bargarh, whose district's ODOP product is handloom, and for the lodges, caterers and cabs that fill when Dhanu Jatra turns the town into Mathura: how one festival offer passes consent, category, language and approval before it is sent, and what each message costs.
See it work
A Bargarh lodge wants to tell past guests that rooms are open for Dhanu Jatra. Drop the offer through each layer it must pass before it reaches a single phone.
The second layer stops most of the list, and that is the point. A guest who only booked a room last winter has not agreed to offers; a guest who said yes has. Sending the offer to the first group would be marketing nobody asked for.
Everything below the consent layer is settled once a year. The 24-hour service window explains what changes when a guest writes back.
PayloadOffer: rooms for Dhanu Jatra
Enters at the top, travels down through 6 layers
Hop 6 of 6: the payload is in layer 6, The guest's phone. Delivered at ₹0.94. A reply opens a 24-hour window for answers in Odia; a STOP ends the offers.
From Invest India's ODOP list and IBEF's Odisha profile; the town's history, festival and railway are general background from Wikipedia, because the district's own website could not be reached.
Bargarh is the headquarters of Bargarh district; it was a subdivision of Sambalpur district before the district was formed.[3]
An eleventh-century inscription gives the place's original name as Bahgar Kota; the Chauhan king Balaram Dev later named it Bargarh.[3]
Old fort walls can still be traced near the Jeera river.[3]
The Sambalpuri sari is recorded as having originated in Bargarh, and the town is called the city of handloom.[3]
Invest India's ODOP list names handloom for Bargarh district, and IBEF lists handloom among Odisha's key industries.[1],[2]
Dhanu Jatra, a winter staging of Krishna Leela, turns the town into Mathura, the Jeera into the Yamuna and Ambapali into Gopapur.[3]
A network of canals from the Mahanadi runs through the area.[3]
Bargarh Road station serves the district on the Jharsuguda–Vizianagaram line, in the Sambalpur railway division.[3]
Four businesses that follow from the looms, the festival, the station and the town's shops.
Handloom is Bargarh's ODOP product, and the Sambalpuri sari is recorded as having begun here.[1],[3]
Each winter the town becomes Mathura for Dhanu Jatra's staging of Krishna Leela.[3]
Bargarh Road station is on the Jharsuguda–Vizianagaram line, and Dhanu Jatra's Gopapur is Ambapali.[3]
Bargarh is the headquarters of its district, serving customers who write in Odia and Sambalpuri.[3]
Dhanu Jatra is not held in one place. For its days the whole of Bargarh plays Mathura, the Jeera plays the Yamuna and Ambapali plays Gopapur. For a lodge, a caterer or a cab, that means a burst of questions from people who have never written before.
Every one of those questions is cheap to answer. A visitor's message opens a 24-hour window, and the room rate, the menu or the fare go back as replies at the service rate, in Odia, Sambalpuri, Hindi or English. The expensive and risky message is the one the business starts: the offer to last year's guests, which belongs only to those who said yes.
The looms work on a slower clock. A boutique in another city asks for a colour, the weaver sends photos, and weeks later the dispatch note goes as a utility template in Hindi or English, because Odia is not one of Meta's template languages.
Neither Odia nor Sambalpuri is on Meta's list of template languages. Hindi and English are, and each is a separate template under the same name.
Each version must be approved before it is sent. Replies need no template, so staff answer in Odia, Sambalpuri or whatever a customer writes; InfiQ's own support works in English and Hindi.
