Opt-out

Compliance & trust

Definition
A customer's request to stop receiving WhatsApp messages from a business, which the business must honour promptly.

What Opt-out means

Opt-out is the mechanism by which a customer withdraws consent to receive WhatsApp messages from a business. Under Meta's policy and data-protection law, businesses must make opting out easy — commonly by replying with a keyword like STOP — and must stop messaging that contact promptly once they do.

Respecting opt-out is both a legal obligation and a quality safeguard. Ignoring opt-out requests leads to blocks and reports, which lower a number's quality rating and can restrict its messaging limits.

InfiQ supports capturing opt-out signals and suppressing further messages to those contacts, so your broadcasts and campaigns stay compliant and your quality rating stays healthy.
