WhatsApp On-Premises API

Core concepts

Definition
The older, self-hosted version of the WhatsApp Business API that businesses ran on their own servers — retired by Meta on 23 October 2025 in favour of the Cloud API.

What WhatsApp On-Premises API means

The On-Premises API was the original way to access the WhatsApp Business API: businesses or providers installed and ran WhatsApp's messaging client on their own servers. It gave full infrastructure control but required significant operational effort to host, scale and keep updated.

Meta retired the On-Premises API on 23 October 2025, moving everyone to the Cloud API, which Meta hosts. All new and existing projects now build on the Cloud API.

InfiQ uses the official Cloud API, so customers do not have to think about hosting or migration — the managed infrastructure and its updates are handled for them.
