Rajsamand in nine lines

Rajsamand is the headquarters of Rajsamand district, named after its lake and surrounded by the Aravalli ranges.[4]
Maharana Raj Singh of Mewar had the lake built between 1662 and 1676, damming the Gomati, Kelwa and Tali rivers.[5],[1]
Rajasthan Tourism places the lake 66 km north of Udaipur between Rajnagar and Kankroli, with a white stone embankment 183 m long at the Kankroli end.[1]
The Raj Prashasti, a Sanskrit history of Mewar carved on 25 black marble slabs, stands on the dam; the Nau Chauki facing Kankroli has three carved marble pavilions.[5]
The idol of Dwarkadhish was installed in a new temple at Kankroli in V.S. 1726, and Rajasthan Tourism calls Kankroli the third peeth of the Vaishnav faith.[1]
