WhatsApp Business API for Khurja's pottery units, from enquiry to kiln to dispatch

Six centuries of potters, and every order still begins with a buyer's photo and ends with a lorry receipt.

Khurja has made pottery for six centuries, and it still sells one order at a time. A buyer sends a photo of a mug, a unit sends back a sample and a price, and then the order goes quiet inside the kiln. The messages that fill that silence are the ones worth getting right.

For Khurja's ceramic units making mugs, dinner sets, vases and sanitaryware, the packers and transporters who move their orders, exporters selling from the NCR's edge, and the sweet shops known for khurchan: how an order moves on WhatsApp from enquiry to kiln to lorry, in Hindi and English, at rupee rates.

One Khurja order, from enquiry to delivery

Step through the states of a tableware order and see which message each one sends. Switch to the breakage path to see what happens when a carton arrives cracked.

Pottery orders are slow and fragile, and both qualities show on WhatsApp. The slow part is the week between confirmation and dispatch, which an approved kiln update covers. The fragile part is the breakage claim. It begins with the buyer's photos, so the unit's answers, the replacement plan and the new dispatch note all go inside a fresh window.

The enquiry and sample states are replies inside the buyer's 24-hour window. Every state after the order is confirmed sends an approved utility template, because each is news about an order already placed.

Market brief

Khurja in seven lines

From CSIR-CGCRI's Khurja Centre, the Bulandshahr district administration, Uttar Pradesh's ODOP portal and Invest India's list, with Wikipedia only for the town's history and railway.

  1. 01

CGCRI describes Khurja as a town with a 600-year tradition of pottery and one of the largest whiteware clusters in India, with more than 494 units in the small-scale sector.[1]

  2. 02

CGCRI set up its Khurja Centre in August 1981; it offers chemical and physical analysis, firing facilities and training in stoneware, bone china, glass beads and refractories, and lists a low-temperature glaze and an oil- and gas-fired chamber kiln among its technologies.[1]

  3. 03

Ceramic products are Bulandshahr's ODOP product: tableware, dinner sets, mugs, bowls, vases, decorative items and sanitaryware, with export-oriented units helped by the district's nearness to the NCR.[4],[3]

  4. 04

By local tradition, potters among Timur's retreating soldiers settled here in the 14th century; a government ceramic unit set up for war hospitals in the Second World War closed in 1946 and became a Pottery Development Centre.[5]

  5. 05

Bulandshahr district covers 4,353 sq km, with 7 tehsils, 16 blocks and 1,246 villages.[2]

  6. 06

Khurja is about 20 km from Bulandshahr and 85 km from Delhi; Khurja Junction is on the Delhi–Kolkata main line, and Khurja City station handles local routes.[5]

  7. 07

The old GT Road links the town to other cities, and Khurja is known for a sweet called khurchan.[5]

Khurja (खुर्जा) sells fragile goods to distant buyers

A Khurja unit rarely meets its buyer. The order comes from a shop in another state, a hotel supplier or an online seller, and the unit's whole relationship with that buyer happens in messages: the sample, the price, the wait, the lorry receipt and, sometimes, the photo of a cracked plate.

The API does not change the craft. It changes who can answer. The owner, the packing floor and accounts share one number, approved templates go out at each stage without anyone typing them, and a breakage photo reaches the person who can arrange the replacement. Offers for new glazes go only to buyers who said yes.

Questions Khurja businesses ask

A hotel supplier asks our Khurja pottery unit for mugs with its logo. Can the sample photos and quotation go on WhatsApp?
Yes. The supplier's message opens a 24-hour window for free-form replies, so sample photos, glaze options and the quotation PDF go with no template, at ₹0.145 each. The window restarts whenever the supplier writes again.
Our Khurja unit's batches spend days glazing and firing. Can we tell the buyer when the order is in the kiln and again when it is packed?
Yes. Both are updates about an order already placed, so they are utility templates at ₹0.19, approved once in Hindi and English. Keep them to the order: a line about new designs would make the message marketing.
A dinner set from Khurja arrived cracked at a shop in Jaipur. How do we handle the breakage claim on WhatsApp?
The shop's photos open a new 24-hour window, so your replies, the replacement plan and questions about the packing go as service messages at ₹0.145. The replacement's dispatch note is a utility template at ₹0.19.
Our unit exports Khurja ceramics from near the NCR. What does a message to a buyer in the UAE cost?
Meta charges by the recipient's country code, so a buyer on a +971 number is billed at the UAE rate on InfiQ's international rate table, not the India rate. You still pay InfiQ in rupees with GST; templates for the buyer usually go in English.
Our sweet shop in Khurja is known for khurchan. Can we send festival box offers to customers who bought from us last year?
Only to customers who agreed to receive offers, with a record of when and how. A past purchase is not an opt-in. The offer goes as an approved marketing template at ₹0.94, with a way to opt out; ask for the yes at the counter.
We trained at CGCRI's Khurja Centre and now sell bone china online. Can our store send order and delivery updates automatically?
Yes. Your store can call InfiQ's API or a webhook when an order is placed or shipped, and InfiQ sends the matching approved utility template at ₹0.19. Replies from buyers land in the shared inbox.
