What Meta Business Agent means
The Meta Business Agent is Meta's own, official AI agent for businesses, announced in June 2026. Switched on for a business's WhatsApp or Messenger presence (with Instagram expanding), it autonomously answers customer questions, recommends products from the business's catalogue, books appointments, qualifies leads and decides when to hand a conversation to a human. Meta reports more than one million businesses already using a Business Agent on WhatsApp and Messenger.
Getting started is free under Meta's own policy, with paid subscription offerings announced to follow. The agent is configured with the business's own knowledge — business information, FAQs, catalogues, files and websites — and, on the platform tier, can connect to external systems so it can act (check an order, book a slot) rather than only chat.
On InfiQ, the Business Agent ships with an integration layer: it is wired into the business's catalogue, orders, bookings and CRM, and hands conversations to the shared team inbox with full context when a human should take over. This is distinct from Meta AI (the consumer assistant) and from AI Studio (Meta's creator persona builder).
