In detail
With coexistence, the cost depends on where a message is sent from.
One-to-one messages you send from the WhatsApp Business app stay free, as they were before you connected. You can start a chat from the app with a normal message, and the 24-hour customer service window doesn't apply. App messages don't open, extend or affect any window on the platform, and they don't count towards your platform messaging limit. Groups, calls and Status in the app stay free too. Connecting itself carries no Meta charge: if you only ever use the app, Meta has nothing to bill.
Messages sent from the platform follow Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform pricing, charged per message. Starting or restarting a chat from the platform needs an approved template. Templates are charged by category (marketing, utility or authentication) and by the customer's country code. From 1 October 2026, Meta also charges for service replies and for utility templates sent inside an open 24-hour customer service window; until 30 September 2026 those were free. When a customer comes from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad or a Facebook Page button and you reply from the platform within 24 hours, a 72-hour free window applies to platform messages; app replies don't open it. Messages customers send to you aren't charged. Meta changes its rates only on 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October.
One switchover detail: a platform window opens only when a customer messages you after you've connected. For chats that began just before, reply from the app, or send an approved template from the platform until the customer writes again.
Your provider's plan is billed separately. InfiQ's plan prices and current per-message rates are on the pricing page.
A practical split: handle personal one-to-one chats from the app at no Meta cost, and use the platform for campaigns, reminders, chatbots and team replies.
