WhatsApp Business API for the travel desks, workshops and shops of Kalyan
Kalyan is where the Central line divides for Karjat and Kasara, and where the roads to Malshej Ghat and Haji Malang begin. Its businesses take bookings from people already on the move.
For Kalyan's travel desks, pilgrim-bus operators, garment units, rice and millet traders and clinics: how a customer's message travels from a phone on the Kasara or Karjat line to the person who should answer it, which messages need a Marathi template, and what each one costs in rupees.
Kalyan is its own city
Not a Mumbai suburb and not Thane: an old port on the Ulhas with its own corporation, its own taluka and its own roads out. From Thane district's pages, Invest India and, for general history, Wikipedia.
Thane district lists six municipal corporations; Kalyan-Dombivli is one of them, alongside Thane, Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Ulhasnagar and Mira-Bhayander.[2]
KDMC was formed in 1983 to run the twin townships of Kalyan and Dombivli.[7]
Kalyan was a port in classical times; the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea records it. The Durgadi fort was first built much later, under Mughal rule.[7]
In Kalyan taluka the Bhatsa meets the Ulhas near Vadwali, and the Kalu joins the Bhatsa near Samodh.[1]
The district profile counts Kalyan among Thane's comparatively developed talukas, and says the brown reddish soil of Kalyan, Bhiwandi and Shahapur suits rice.[1]
Haji Malang Gad, a hill fort and shrine about 15 km from Kalyan, holds its yatra on Magh Poornima; buses run from Kalyan station to its base about every 30 minutes.[3]
The Titwala Ganpati temple stands on the Kalu on the Kalyan–Kasara route, and Malshej Ghat, a monsoon destination, lies on the Kalyan–Nagar road.[4],[5]
Invest India's ODOP list gives Thane district garments and textiles, with millets as the second product.[6]

How a question from the Kasara line reaches the right desk
A pilgrim group leader on a local train asks a Kalyan travel agency about buses to Haji Malang for the Magh Poornima yatra. Step down through the layers the message passes before someone answers.
The layers matter when the rush comes. On a yatra day or the first wet weekend of the monsoon, the questions arrive faster than one phone can take them, and the inbox lets several people answer from the same number without the customer noticing a handover.
Once the group has paid, the confirmation and the day-before reminder go out as approved utility templates, because by then the 24-hour window may have closed.
One group booking, five layers down
PayloadBuses for 40 people to Haji Malang on Magh Poornima?
Enters at the top, travels down through 5 layers
Hop 5 of 5: the payload is in layer 5, Bus desk. A staff member replies in Marathi with seats, timing and the advance needed, each reply charged at the service rate.

| Sector | What it sends on WhatsApp |
|---|---|
| Travel desks and pilgrim-bus operatorsHaji Malang's yatra, the Titwala temple on the Kasara route and monsoon trips up the Kalyan–Nagar road to Malshej bring group bookings.[3],[4],[5] |
|
| Garment and textile unitsGarments and textiles are Thane district's ODOP product; units send samples and dispatch updates to buyers.[6] |
|
| Rice and millet tradersKalyan taluka's soils suit rice, and millets are the district's second ODOP product; buyers ask about lots and rates after each harvest.[1],[6] |
|
| Clinics, labs and neighbourhood shopsPatients and shoppers in a junction town often write from a train; a reply that waits for them is worth more than a missed call. |
|
Marathi first, with Hindi and English beside it
Meta approves each template once per language; most Kalyan businesses keep three versions of their busiest templates.
Replies inside the 24-hour window can be in any language your staff write. InfiQ's own support team works in English and Hindi.
| Language | Meta code | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Marathi | mr | Pilgrim groups, local customers and growers in the taluka |
| Hindi | hi | Commuters and workers from other states |
| English (India) | en_IN | Garment buyers, corporate travel and invoices |

Questions Kalyan businesses ask
Question: Our travel desk near Kalyan station runs monsoon trips to Malshej Ghat. Can we tell everyone booked on a Sunday trip that it has been called off for rain?
Answer: Yes. A trip change sent to people who booked is a utility template at ₹0.19 per delivered message, and it reaches them even if they have not written in days. Keep the template factual: the trip, the new date or the refund. Offers for other trips are marketing and need an opt-in.
Question: Pilgrim groups book our buses to Haji Malang for the Magh Poornima yatra. Can several of us answer the same number in that week?
Answer: Yes. The shared team inbox gives 10 users on Lite and 25 on Growth, with transfers, labels and private notes, so each group leader's thread stays with one person while others take new enquiries. Each reply inside the 24-hour window costs ₹0.145.
Question: Customers write to our Kalyan shop from Kasara-line and Karjat-line trains and then go quiet. When do we need a template to write back?
Answer: Only after 24 hours have passed since the customer's last message. Until then your staff can reply freely, in Marathi or any language, at ₹0.145 per reply. After the window closes, an approved template, such as an order-ready notice, is the only message that reaches them.
Question: Our garment unit in Kalyan sends sample photos to buyers. Is that a marketing message?
Answer: It depends on who wrote first. Photos sent in reply to a buyer's enquiry, within 24 hours, are ordinary replies at ₹0.145 each. A catalogue sent to buyers who did not ask is a marketing template at ₹0.94 and may go only to buyers who opted in to receive it.
Question: Our shop near the Titwala Ganpati temple wants to send Ganeshotsav offers in Marathi. Is that allowed?
Answer: Yes, to customers who opted in to offers. Meta accepts Marathi (mr) templates; a festival offer is a marketing template at ₹0.94 per delivered message. A customer who replies to order opens a 24-hour window, and your answers then cost ₹0.145 each.
Question: We started our unit under PMEGP through the District Industries Centre in Thane. Is the Lite plan enough to begin?
Answer: Lite is the entry plan: ₹999 a month with the shared inbox for 10 users, plus each delivered message at the India rate. Growth, at ₹2,999 a month, includes the developer API. Start with a 7-day Lite trial, no card needed; once Meta business verification is complete, the number is usually live in about two hours.
